TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY AND THE FIRST

Nov 03, 2008 11:23

I woke up this morning with chill bumps. Beautiful, sunny warm fall day, yet I had goose bumps. It took me a while to wrap my head around what was going on. Then it hit me. Tomorrow is the last day...and it is the first. If it goes our way, we will have elected a president who chose a message of inclusion, of peace and of fairness. We will have elected a president that puts America's people first. We will have elected a president that gave us a message of hope and change. We will have elected a president that truly believes we all count.

On the eve of this most historic election. On the eve of a new day, a new light and a new way, I remind you of this, my LJ friends:

We've all seen it. But on this day, for me, it brings new meaning..and with it, a pledge. A pledge that I will never, ever sit at the back of the bus, keep my mouth shut or allow someone to marginalize my love, my beliefs my rights. Ever again. I will on this day pledge to stand up, be counted and take my place. I will not fall into the trap of the last 8 years, but instead I will look for the commonality in all mankind. I will look past the negative and search for the positive. I will look for the ways to bring us closer.

Because I can.

Because WE can.

yes we can
