Last night I dreamt that I was home with my family... but we were living out of the motor home that Marty has in Vermont... but we were still in New York. We found this parrot that was blue who came to our door and it had its wings clipped so we assumed it was someone's pet and took it in and put it in a shoebox. Then I found another bird outside, but this one was Charlie and apparently he escaped while I was out and my parents didn't want to tell me. So he went in the box too, but he was really beat up so we decided to bring them both to the pet store where I used to work, but it was completely different. There were little puppies in empty fish tanks instead of cages in the first room we went into. Then someone came to help us and she pointed out the bird cages because apparently we get a free one when we turn in another... but she took both the strange parrot and Charlie, so I told my parents I wanted to see if the Lorikeet was still there so we could get it.
The girl took us to the next room to see, and that was the regular storefront, but the monkey cage was missing. Anyway, it was really dark and there was only one other person there and he was sweeping and the bird room was locked, so she went to find the key to open it. I looked in the window and there was my little birdy. I said HI, BABY REMEMBER ME? and it started making the little squeaky noises and being happy and stuff.
PS: I wanted to name it Scooter, but my brother wanted to name it Gus. We couldn't agree. I guess those're the two I should choose between should I ever get one.
So next thing I know, I'm buying it - I don't actually see it going into the box, my dream kindof skipped that part - and I went out to the car without my family so I could take it out and play with it some while they were still looking around for a cage or something. When I took it out, however, it wasn't a bird. It was a blue rubbery ant-like bug, about the size of the gooey little aliens you get inside quarter machines and about the same texture. This wasn't the strange part. What seemed odd was I was sure that this was what I was supposed to be getting and it was the larva that would soon become my lorikeet. They had given me the young one so I could hand-raise it myself. I somehow understood this. So anyway, I took it out and I was playing with it, but I held it too close to the AC vents and it blew away from me toward the back windshield. There, it got stuck in a big spider web that looked more like cobwebs than a traditional circular one whereupon a large brown spider about half the size of my 'lorikeet' rushed down and bit it. I freaked the fuck out and started beating the shit out of the web and the spider and my little buddy fell out, but he wasn't moving. So, I started performing buggy CPR, which is apparently pinching the thorax and the abdomen and alternately squeezing them until life is restored, which it was.
That was the end of my dream. What freaks me out is how real it was. I woke up all excited to go play with my new bird. It was weird.
