After gathering their best weapons and only the bare necessities, Giles and Jenny headed for the street Buffy instructed they meet her on. Upon arriving, they found Xander, Anya, Willow and Tara already there waiting.
"Buffy not here yet?" Jenny asked, a bit redundantly.
Xander, clearly on-edge, gave her a look. "No, no, she is. Can't you see her?" he gestured to the air in front of them, grinning facetiously. "Hop in!"
While Giles furrowed his brows at the young man, Jenny just threw him a patient smirk. "Relax, Xand. We're all feeling the pressure here, okay?"
Within the span of a few seconds, Xander had seemingly realized who he had spoken to in such a manner, and he nodded, ducking his head. "Right. Sorry." Bashfully, he gave Jenny a glance, raising his eyebrows hopefully. "Kiss and make up?"
But per their usual banter, Jenny just smiled wanly and told him, "Keep dreaming."
"Anybody else feel that?" Anya asked as they all watched cars pass by, none of them occupied by Buffy and Dawn.
"What?" Willow asked.
"Cold draft of paralyzing fear."
"We just need to stay calm," Giles told them, though even he was feeling a bit tense. Instinctively, he reached for Jenny's hand, finding a minute's peace in the banal motion of rubbing his thumb over her wedding ring.
"Calm. Right," Willow scoffed.
"Hey, we gotta be like Sergeant Rock. Cool and collected in the face of overwhelming odds."
"Overwhelming?" Anya turned to him. "How much more than whelming would that be, exactly?"
"Look, everything will be alright," he reiterated, raising his voice slightly to hammer in his point. "We just need to stay here calmly. As soon as Buffy arrives--"
He was cut off by the sound of an RV screeching to a halt in front of them, all the windows obscured with tinfoil, and the door swinging open.
Quieter, to himself, he finished, "--we'll feel oddly worse."
Jenny threw him a small smirk, squeezing his hand then as they all grabbed for their things and climbed on board the RV one by one.
