[BGM 'GUTS!']
Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show.
First up is one from Eri-chan.
"I love Oh-chan all the time! I look forward to listening to your radio show every morning. This is random, but my careless incident was when I opened the fridge and found there were some stiff, frozen underwear!"
(laughs)
"The underwear had been freshly laundered, but why on earth did I put it in the fridge?"
(I wouldn't know!) (laughs)
"Did I mistake it for my wardrobe? Is that my level of carelessness? Incidentally, when I put on the underwear, they were nice and cool!"
So you wore them! That's funny. I wonder if her wardrobe and her fridge are next to each other? Man, that's the only way it could have happened. That, or, um, she'd just moved there recently. (laughs)
No, but maybe that or she was drunk, or she was still half-asleep in the morning. But she'd just done the laundry, so if she was folding them and putting them in like that... Then she wasn't half-asleep. Maybe she was drinking as she was folding her laundry? I don't know.
And with regards to this, that level is way too high. That's not just any level of carelessness. But I like this sort of thing. It's a mystery, right? I'm open to submissions!
Next, from Chihiro-san, 2nd year highschooler from Tokyo.
"Good morning.
A while ago, you were talking about how you liked soundtracks [1]. I love them too. Your pace or expression naturally changes depending on the song. Recently, I bought the CD for 'West Side Story'. I've actually acted the role of Maria before. I've heard that Ohno-san, Sakurai-san and Matsumoto-san had starred in 'West Side Story' before. Please tell us some anecdotes from your 'West Side Story' performances. Do you have any favourite lines, Riff?"
Ohh. That's nostalgic! West... The role of Maria... That's amazing. So you sang those songs, huh? Man, I played the role of Riff, leader of the Jets. The Jets have a number called '
Cool'. It's a whole song and dance. And then everyone goes like, "It's a fight!" and I go like, "Keep it cool, boy!" I say that line a bunch of times. "Cool it!" Then the song starts, like, "Boy, boy!"
Before that, I was pretty free. Since I don't appear. So I'd be in the dressing room. There were monitors in the dressing rooms, so that you could tell what scene they were up to. So since I was bored in the dressing room, I'm sorry to admit it, but I developed a habit of picking my nose. Then I kinda got an alarming nosebleed. I was like, "Ah, dang!" and it was just gushing out. "Uh oh, this is serious trouble!" (laughs)
So I rolled up a tissue to about the size of a pillbug and stuffed it up my nose. I kept it in there until the last possible moment. I figured it'd stop.
[BGM 'Yume ni Kakeru']
The white parts were kinda... like, you could tell how it was spreading. I was like, "Uh oh, I'll be up soon!" so I had to take out the tissue. Then like, I could tell that the blood was getting sticky. I thought if I sniffed hard a few times, that'd do the trick. So up I went.
Then like, I don't know if it got mixed with my sweat or something, like it was still kinda oozing. So that time I was just constantly sniffing. Everyone was like, "It's a fight!" and I had to go like, "Cool it!" (sniff).
"Cool it!" (sniff)
...So that was the one time where I was the least cool of all.
Well, so my favourite line is "Cool it!" (laughs) That was 10 years ago. Thank you very much!
Next, from Moeko-san of Tokyo.
"Ohno-kun, good morning. I'm now in my 2nd year high school and next year I'll have my university entrance exams, so I'm being swallowed up by my studies, but I can't really focus. And then I end up hating it all and it's not going anywhere. All the 3rd years are all going to be facing their summer holidays preparing for their exams, so they'll be putting in last spurt efforts. And all the 3rd year middle-schoolers will also be putting in all their efforts for their high school entrance exams. So on that note, please give a word of encouragement to all students and people who are taking exams."
So she's asking me to encourage people besides herself, huh? That's nice of her. But honestly, I've never really sat for exams like that before. Mm. So that might kinda decrease the 'real' factor of this, but well, if I were in your shoes, now's the time. Now's the time to pull out all the stops. No matter what, it's important to give it all you've got.
Well, I think it'll be really tough, but now's the time to try with all your might. Good luck, folks!
And so with that, the weekly Friday messages have been answered. I'll be awaiting your mail. The address is arashi@fmyokohama.co.jp. I'll be waiting for you to send me lots of messages.
See you next week; this was Ohno Satoshi!
