Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Here's today's thought of the day; come on!

"Please read books. Read books outside the genres you're comfortable with. Please don't be someone with a narrow perspective or someone devoted to just listening to the words of others. Please recognise there are truths other than the ones you personally believe in."

[BGM 'Oh! Yeah!']

This is a quote by novelist and literary critic Takahashi Genichiro-san. The fact that people have different perceptions and understandings of something is important.

Books, huh? Do you read books, folks? I generally end up falling asleep when I read books, so I'm the type who doesn't read. Lately, I did read though, a little while ago. Books? Or was that scripts? Well, for the 24HTV drama, I read that script.

But well, I mentioned it previously, but you know Yamada-kun of Hey!Say!JUMP? Sorry, I call him Ryo-chan. Um, well, whatever! I don't like 'Yamada-kun'. Let's go with 'Ryo-chan'. Mm.

So Ryo-chan... I think it was the last day of filming? Um, like the staff had provided food gifts [1]. And so the 2 of us had eaten the food gifts. And both of us were mutually like, "Hey, these are sure tasty, huh?"

Then like, after filming was over, like a few days later when both of us were appearing on a variety show, he bought those! Ryo-chan bought them!

"Help yourself," he said. (laughs) I was so happy, I ate them. Well, I mean I couldn't not eat them, right? (laughs) Right?

It should've been like, "hey Ryo-chan, I bought these!" But instead he was like, "so I looked up where they were sold and bought them".

I was so happy! I still hadn't done anything though. I wondered what I could do. That wasn't very senior-like of me! At that stage, I was kinda hesitating. I didn't know what I should do! (laughs)

I even talked to my manager, like, "What should I do?" Like maybe I could send something to one of Ryo-chan's filming sets. I'm considering it.

So just hang in there! I might send it for no particular reason. Mm. So watch out! Seriously, (laughs) thank you for that food gift!

That's all; this was Ohno Satoshi!

[1] 差し入れ (sashi-ire), or what I've clumsily translated as 'food gifts', are courtesy gifts/souvenirs you bring for your colleagues/team/juniors etc. It's commonly food/snacks, but can also be money (like in the case of fans bringing sashi-ire to the stage door of performers - food can be risky due to health risks, but money can be used by their managers to buy food/things for the performers).

[Note re:audio file - The recording started late, so it starts on the 3rd sentence of the quote.]
