Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Here's today's thought of the day; come on!

"In my opinion, it cannot be said that hope is something that originally existed or not. It is like a path on the ground. Originally, there was no path, but if the number of people who walk it increases, it becomes a path."

[BGM 'Power of the Paradise']

Oh, that's a great phrase. This is a quote by Chinese literary figure Lu Xun-san.

The hope that each person has may be just a small thing, but if you gather them together it becomes something huge. Materially, it becomes reality.

So firstly, no matter what the situation is, it's best to have hope.

Certainly. Do you have hope? Well, for hopes, I think anything goes. Like, "Ahh, I want to go! I want to buy that!" Anything's fine.

Well, what would it be for me? I guess I want to go on a holiday abroad. Speaking of which, I haven't been abroad at all, lately.

So on that note, we have an interesting mail here. I'll read it out. From Chieko-san:
"Ohno-kun, Good morning. For the summer holidays this year, I went to Helsinki in Finland. There, I joined a tour to go to the forests. There was a Finnish person who had attached to their tour guide's rucksack an AraFes keychain. Without thinking, I said, "Are you an Arashi fan?" Unbelievably, that person was an Arashi fan. I was surprised. Turns out that they had previously been to Hokkaido and went to the Sapporo Dome concert. Ohno-kun, if you go to Finland, please go to the forests!"

Uwaaa! I'm happy about that.

I... That's right, I've been to Finland before. How many years ago was that, now? Probably about 15 years ago? Man, I went on a location shoot to meet Santa Claus [1]. I was there for about a week.

It was beautiful, the city. I remember it pretty well. We went to all sorts of places.

And then I've mentioned this before as well, but I think we ate the salmon the most often. Also, with the cheese and the salmon and all. It was all that sort of thing, constantly.

Then as you'd expect, for me, I was just about 20 at the time. I wasn't very familiar with all those kinds of food. So to have salmon for a whole week, it was the same cuisine the whole time. We got tired of just continually eating that.

It was like "We're eating this today as well?" But well, there wasn't anything else but that. We ate it for a week.

So finally when we got back, just having cup noodles and natto and stuff, I'd been missing that. Like miso soup and all. So when I ate that, I was like, "Man, these are sure delicious!"

And then a few days later, what was funny was that I was craving that Finnish salmon.

It happens! It does! (laughs) Yeah.

Since then, I've not been back to Finland. I haven't eaten that salmon since then, either.

It might be better to go. Which store was that again? But it left an impression, Finland.

By all means folks, if you have time, please go visit!

That's all; this was Ohno Satoshi!

[1] This was a 'Gakibara Teikoku 2000' episode. In the 'If' series there was a kid who didn't believe in Santa, so Ohno, Aiba and MatsuJun went to Finland on a mission to 'Meet the Real Santa'.
