This weekend was wonderful and exactly what I needed! Friday night Mark and I rented a movie and hung out at his house and relaxed. Its becoming a nice Friday routine that I’m finding much more enjoyable than going out.
Saturday I woke up early and went down to Grosse Point to Katie’s parent’s house. We headed to Hamtramck for a day filled with new experiences and adventures. We ate lunch at Polish Village and I stuffed myself with placki and perogies. They gave us so much food we couldn’t even make a dent! Afterwards we walked around into all the Middle Eastern shops and looked at spices, date cookies (yum!) and all of the interesting items in there (ahem…Gee). We found our way into a polish bakery and indulged in some angel wings and assorted pastries. My mother would have been so proud of me.
Yesterday I finally got around to cleaning my mess of a room. And by clean, I mean CLEAN. I think I dusted, polished, vacuumed, or scrubbed every last inch of that room. It sparkles. Met Emma and Amanda for lunch at Pronto and caught up with them. They never fail to make me laugh so hard and take myself a little less seriously. Later on, I went over to Adrienne’s for a BBQ with some coworkers. Everyone contributed to the feast, bocce ball was played, cocktails were made, laughs were shared and work stayed out of the conversation. It was such a wonderful night. I really appreciate this little family we’ve made.
My birthday is fast approaching and the other day I was looking at pictures from last year’s celebrations. It’s so weird to see how different my life is now. Last year I was just starting to hang out with people from CE, still living at home, worrying that I’d never make it in advertising, not really sure if I even wanted to stay in Michigan. Its great to see how much you can change yourself, positively, in just a year. Next year I’m aiming for even bigger and better things. Perhaps I’m the type of gal to make birthday resolutions rather than New Years resolutions.
Chris and I head to New York this weekend. I’m so excited!! I can’t wait to see Vanessa and the rest of team Brooklyn, visit the city, sing karaoke and just have a nice laid-back time with some great people.
