I haven’t taken the time to update in awhile. There’s been a lot happening in my neck of the woods.
Picking up from where I left off, Lollapalooza was amazing. We had excellent weather, and the bands were all phenomenal. Daft Punk and Muse are in a close tie for best act of the weekend. Both completely blew my mind. I have never been on such a natural high before. It was such a great experience to listen to amazing music out in the open, and then turn and see the Chicago skyline behind you, along with a sea of people. Other highlights included Regina Spektor (who just so happens to be coming to Detroit the day before my birthday…wink wink), Paolo Nutini, The Roots, Pearl Jam (of course), and Amy Winehouse. I will definitely be going again next year!
I have determined hat visiting Nikki and Louis in Chicago is one of my favorite things. Soon they’ll live in the same building and I have a feeling that I’m going to be going there for weekend jaunts far more than I should. The guy that went with me to Lolla, Pete, stayed with Nikki as well. I’m just sort of eh about him. He’s a nice guy, but there’s just nothing there. I need someone to rock my socks, and with him, there’s not even a wiggle.
In other news, I’ve started my new job in publishing. I’m working on Corvette Quarterly magazine and also helping out on the Chevy Nation micro-site. So far so good. I really love everyone that I work with. Honestly, I was so afraid to leave the main building because I had such a great group over there, that was really like my family. I am extremely lucky to be coming into a group of similar personalities, who have already taken me under their wing. Today we had a bbq in the courtyard of the building and it was so great to look around at everyone and feel at home. I think I like it here. ☺ And hey, they’ve already seen me do karaoke and still like me…I think I’m in.
I purchased a backpack from REI and picked it up at the store yesterday. I think its going to be awesome and I can’t wait to plan my next excursion. I’ve also been toying with the idea of taking a weekend and going up to Tahquamenon Falls. I really think it would be beautiful in the Fall, and I’d love to spend a day hiking around the falls and looking at all the colors. We’ll see how that pans out.
