I probably shouldn't have watched the whole season of Scrubs last weekend. Now this weekend I have nothing to watch. But it's sooooo funny, how can you not watch it, and watch it, and watch it! It's alright, I've managed to entertain myself in other ways.
Work has been good. I've been shown to do some new stuff. It's similar to something else that I know already, but more interesting. One reason for me to receive that training is that one senior member of my team has gone on leave as of this week, and another will be doing so in a few weeks' time. I have to be trained as a backup if somebody happened to be away, which had already taken place because one person got chicken pox last week.
On Friday we had a team lunch. The company was paying for up to $30 a head, which is way plenty since my lunches normally are under $7! Yeah, I'm cheap! We went to a nice pub. It was good to sit around for a few hours with them and talk about stuff that's nothing to do with work. Some of us drank, including me, then went back to work, haha. I think for a while I was still a bit tipsy, but don't worry, I didn't get in trouble. Later in the afternoon there was an end of month party down in the basement any way, everybody was getting wasted there, haha. Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration, more like a big exaggeration. I didn't have alcohol there, drinking at lunch was enough. We had a casino going, it wasn't with real money, not with condoms, but with photocopied monopoly money. Haha, as if monopoly alone wasn't cheap enough! There was the typical stuff, poker, blackjack, roulette, and the true blue Australia game of two up. It's really simple. Two coins, rest it on a piece of wood, kinda like a ruler, but with dents that hold the coins steady, throw it up, and see how they land. Before the toss, you can either bet two heads or two tails. If you get it right, you get paid by your bet, it you don't, obviously you don't. If it's turns out to be a head and a tail, it's no result and it's thrown again until it's either two heads or two tails.
It wasn't about the 'gambling' or drinking, it was having fun. Everybody had fun. I started by playing poker, but headed over to blackjack. Blackjack's more fun, less stressful, haha. Besides, I knew more people on that table. I wonder what the theme would be next month.....the casino was a huge success, even though I did go broke, three times...haha
