when i walk back home on nights like this, when there are couples lying side by side on the quad, laughing and loving each other with their eyes and their smiles, i take off my flip flops and walk barefoot. so i can feel the cool pavement on my warm bruised feet and so that i do not disturb those couples on the quad. i tiptoe past the trees that are blossoming with summer secrets and write bad poetry in my head. i can't wait for the day when i have someone to share nights like this with. i will show up at their door and whisper for them to come and play with me. we will do kartwheels and tell jokes and get grass stains on our knees. and when we are fianlly content to sit still we will glance up at the stars and talk about God until we are so excited again that we cannot sit still. (because lately He has filled my life with so much you guys. i honestly do not even know what to do) this campus is filled with so many different scents. depending on where you are. there are at least one dozen distinct smells between the quad and my dorm, so i take deep deep breaths and let the scents sit in my lungs, so i can get all the way around them. the weather is so kind tonight.
