Ok, so I was just going through my flist and I saw a few metas and whatnot from last night's episode...and now I wanna talk.
Obvs, there's gunna be spoilers.
Ok, so here's what i'm thinking.
Their memories (Thanksgiving, and running away, going to Stanford, having Mary make Dean a sandwhich then fight with John)...I think that was all Zachariah's doing.
Not the actual memories, because they DID happen. But I think Zach made it so THOSE were the memories they relived.
Think about it. Ash said their Heaven is supposed to be happy. and Yes, for Sam, getting away was happy...but I highly doubt it's the happiest. Being with another family? Having you mom and dad fighting on the phone when you're 4 years old? Def. doesn't qualify as happy to me.
You'd think some of the happiest would be bringing the other back to life, or them just goofing off (Sammy with the fireworks? that's believable)
But...I really think the whole thing was just Zachariah screwing with them. Make Dean think that Sam's most happy away from his family, and it could be incentive to just say yes and get it over with.
Every memory pretty much highlighted Sam and Dean's separation, make him lose what little faith he had left and just say yes. It was all planned to bring Dean to his knees and totally break him.
and the YE!Mary at the end was obv. Zach just rubbing salt into the wound.
I'm even including God saying he doesn't care in this.
ginzai said in a post:
And Joshua? There's the obvious big one with how Joshua and Jesus are different varients of the same name, but this could be just a test of faith. Or perhaps the ultimate demonstration of faith - as hard and scary as it sounds, if God, a personable God with specific knowledge of you thinks that you can do it, then maybe you might just be able to do it.
Plus I'm pretty sure that everything after Zachariah showed up in the woods at a minimum was manipulated, and possibly other things besides. Pam's speech was just a bit too pat for me to think otherwise.
So yeah...this is rambly and random, but I had to get it out.
Seriously...I haven't put this much thought into Show in a while =|
OH! and also? Like I told a bunch of people, I'm in firm belief that at the end of the episode, Sam grabbed the amulet and he's gunna keep it for a while. He'll give it back later. People do crazy things when they're angry and upset and just done. Dean threw it out because of those reasons. But i'm sure later he'll regret it and want it back. Then Sam will give it, they'll hug it out (THEY NEED TO DAMMIT)
and all will be right with the fandom world.
