what the heck- why am I awake???

It's weird that last night was our first night away from camp in so long... the past few days have dragged on so much that it feels like much longer. Which is great I guess. Last night after we dropped off the kids and left the bus terminal Adam, Lynsey, Ed, Alyssa, and I went to Little Italy for some food. We ate dinner at this great little restaurant called Da Gennaro- mmm, so delish. We wandered a bit, got some gelato, of course, and made our way to Ground Zero. Put a little damper on our happy moods, but we were able to cope. It was nighttime and hard to see much, but I like the plaques that provided more information about the day. I think that most of us vividly remember what we were doing and where we were that morning, but we rarely think about where other people were and the way everything happened. After that we headed back to Adam's apartment in Manhattan. I was ready to go get the train out to see Jasmine when I realized it was 11:00. Call me a wimp, but I'm not all excited about getting on strange trains in the middle of the night by myself. Time had gone so quickly that evening, but I was just too uncomfortable with the idea of finding my way there in the middle of the night (it was my own fault but I'm a scardy cat). So, I slept at Adam's that night, along with everyone else. (Including his friend Laura who is so much fun). At about 12:30-ish, Alyssa and Lynsey thought it would be fun to go walk around Times Square. So we did. It was still crowded and so much fun. After that we went to Seaport to look out over the river. We talked to some guy who was there fishing for eel. He caught one and put it in a Macy's bag. He said they're hard to eat because of all the bones but that he doesn't want any of the fish in the river... he made a funny face when he said that part. I love meeting people like that. After that we all went back to sleep. Laura, Adam, and I were up til 4 something talking- it was wonderful!

This morning I woke up at 8:30 totally disoriented. By the time I figured out where I was, I drifted back to sleep. I got up for real at 10:30, took a shower and all that, and watched an episode of Salute Your Shorts on Adam's computer (so awesome). Then we headed out. First stop: Dunkin Donuts. Mmm, Boston Creams. After that we walked around Seaport again to go to some of the shops. We then walked around the city a lot and eventually made our way to Battery Park, where we looked out over the water at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We sat down on some benches where someone had left a bunch of D batteries and I thought that was hilarious. We ate some ice cream and then took the subway to Union Square Park and walked around the Farmer's Market. I loved that. And it was such a pretty day... I could have walked around for hours. I left Union Park and took the subway to Grand Central to go see Jasmine. Easy train ride- all was great, and it was so much fun visiting her! We chilled at her apartment for the afternoon (so nice to relax) then came back into the city for dinner. We ate at this crazy place called Mangia e Bevi... there were literally about 10 bachelorette parties in there while we were eating. One would leave and another would come. It was hilarious!! After dinner I went out to meet Adam and some other people from camp. It was nice to catch up with them- I'm so used to seeing them every single day.

Now its 3:17 and I'm at Adam's computer. I'm going to church with him in the morning then out with Jasmine before we go to Connecticut to see Julia. I'm so tired and I'm going to hate myself for staying up this late. I miss you all - call me cause I'm off till Tuesday night :) Love Much!
