It had taken them a while to track down the piece of scum who had appropriated a rather large portion of the Watcher’s funds. In the end, they had found him and took the time to plan a rather elaborate scheme. They could get their funds back any number of ways, but apparently Vincent Adler had no idea about the Supernatural, so they didn’t want to just take their funds and go. Instead, they would tear him down and return the other money to the investors.

She had fought for the job of going under cover and won her point when they looked at other women in which he’d shown interest and discovered she was just his type. Not that she wanted to be involved with him, but at least she had an opportunity to prove herself.

So, undercover she went as Kate Moreau.

Things were going well and she was making good headway. She had just provided Willow the information she needed when he walked in the door.

Nick Halden.

It absolutely wasn’t in her plan to stay longer after she got the necessary information. Not was she planning on being around when Adler made the transfer of the funds which Willow’s algorithm would intercept and divert accordingly.

She absolutely, positively, most definitely did not mean to fall in love, but Nick…

Later, when she found out that Nick was Neal and that he was a con man, she laughed.

Despite being her older sister, she had always looked down on Buffy for falling for the wrong guys. She probably owed her an apology.

The Scoobies got their money. Adler got the blame and Dawn got Neal. She took a leave from the supernatural world for a while to be with Neal

Until she found the lotus flower oragami.

Until she discovered that some of the supernatural had caught on to her cover.

Until the only way to keep him safe without exposing him to the Supernatural world was to let the FBI capture him.

So she did.

And he was safe.

Now, two years into his sentence, she needed to tell him the truth and see about getting his parole approved at his hearing coming up next week.

She could only hope he would forgive her.
