Faith nodded to Caitlin as she left the mat. It wasn't unusual for Faith and Buffy to need to spar against several mini-slayers just to feel like they'd had a workout. With Robin out of town and not nearly enough vamps and demons to go around, sparring was the only release she got. What she really needed...

Laughter sounded at the doorway and a semi-feral smile appeared on her face.

Turning, she watched the couple in the doorway and shook her head at their obliviousness, or at least their over-cautiousness. It was driving pretty much everyone nuts. It was obvious to everyone that the two of them needed to at least try something romantic together, everyone but them. The sad thing was, Faith knew exactly what was keeping them from taking that chance. She saw things each of them most others didn't.

Stretching slightly, she eyed Bucky and Buffy to see which of them would be coming into the gym. Whichever one it was, she would at least, finally, get a good workout.

She nodded her head in satisfaction when Bucky entered the gym and Buffy walked away. She understood parts of Bucky that most of the other Scoobies would never get. And, speaking of the Scoobies, she knew they were just as frustrated as she was. She waited until Bucky met her eyes before asking, “Spar?”

“Sure,” Bucky agreed, putting the towel and water bottle he was carrying on a chair out side the mat area.

Faith stepped aside to give him some time to warm up and smirked to herself as she realized he was running through the same kata Buffy did at the beginning of her workout. He wasn't anywhere as smooth as Buffy was with it, but the man had some promise.

When he stopped, she joined him on the mat to begin some light sparring until he gave the signal that he was warmed up. As with slayers, she knew it wouldn't take long.

After a few minutes she smirked at him. “Come on old man, show me what you've got.”

“Who you callin' old?” Bucky demanded.

Faith laughed. “Hey, if the walker fits...” She jumped back to avoid the jab he shot her way and grinned. That was more like it.

They exchanged a series of blows which would have shaken one of the minis, but felt good to the second oldest slayer. She missed the regular battles against vamps and demons even if the coma and prison had interrupted her available slaying time.

At a slight lull in their spar when each was evaluating the other and deciding on their next course of attack, Bucky smirked and informed, “Heard two of the girls speculating if I could have been your grandfather or great-grandfather.”

Faith blinked at that odd observation and almost missed blocking Bucky's kick. She retaliated with a combination and decided to broach the subject they all wanted to know. Smirking at him while she blocked his latest punches, she asked, “So, gramps, when you and Buffy get your heads out of your … posteriors, does that mean I should call her grammy?”

“What?” a very startled Bucky asked, right before Faith swept his legs causing him to crash to the mats where Faith wasted no time in pinning him.

“The two of you have been driving everyone nuts,” she informed softly as held him down a moment longer. “Every time we think you've finally figured it out something else happens. There's never going to be a perfect time, so, in this case, take some advice from my younger self,” Faith advised, standing and offering her hand to haul Bucky up.

“What's that?” he asked.

“Want. Take. Have.” She informed, walking over to her towel and grabbing both it and her water. She drank some of her water and looked back at him. “Wouldn't wait too long. Someone else with a bit more guts might take it first.” Turning, she left a stunned Bucky on the mats staring after her. She shook her head slightly and grumbled, “The Scoobies so owe me for this.”

End.
