Sad news is sad

David Eddings passes away

Oh no.

His books, specifically Polgara the Sorceress, was the one that opened the world of fantasy to me. Without him, I wouldn't have been interested enough to read GRRM's works, or Lynch's or Abercrombie's. Until now, I still count Silk and Belgarath as one of my favorite characters.

RIP, Mr. Eddings, and thank you.

It is sad. I read his books as a teen, and he went to my college.

I read him when I was 16-17, and I quite enjoyed his books. It was a good way to get into fantasy. He isn't as brilliant as Tolkien, but he made fantasy enjoyable for the mainstream audience.

Hahaha, he's nowhere near Tolkien. He wasn't even that great of a writer, really, but he was fun.

Guh, I heard about this. I was all: ;_;

High-five though to George R. R. Martin. Some of the best real fantasy I've ever read.

Yeah. I popped to peek at the ASoIaF forums, and then I saw this and went, D:.

*high five* I love his books. And his characters. I do hope he'll be able to finish the series. ♥

Oh, man. That is sad news. I mean, his books were just fun stuff, but still. They were fun.

And . . . um. Terry Goodkind what. If that isn't a hoax, there's even more wrong with that man than I had imagine . . . which is seriously saying something.

Yeah. I've 'outgrown' the books, but they've never quite stop being fun. ♥

Foreverlad in the ASoIaF forums did this funny macro on the book. XD

Hahahaha.

It's so true. Why is it so true.

Oh Goodkind . . . I hate you so. XD

Ahaha! Join us Lemmings of Discord in the hatred of Goodkind. ♥

We also make great parodies.

(God, I thought he was "well, okay, a bit violent, too much rape" the first time I read him...and then when I found out he was pretty O_O in his RL stances, I'm...ooooohakay."

What? Nuuuuuuu ;__;

His books were what got me into fantasy too. I read Polgara the Sorceress before I read the other series in the same world, and ... I dunno, I ended up wanting to read like everything he ever wrote because I loved his books that much.

SILK. And and and just... yeah.

I read Polgara first, and yeah, after that I just wanted to read more.

And Silk. Man. I love Silk. ♥
