im studying for my psychopathology exam tomorrow, and am on the topic of sexual disorders and came across this and it made me sad that people actually put kids through this:
Some success has been reported for behavioral programs that incorporate strategies for modifying sextyped behavior through modeling and rehearsal. The therapist demonstrates appropriate masculine behavior and mannerisms (modeling) in a number of different situations, and then patients practice their own versions of these behaviors. This followed by a behavioral procedure that reinforces heterosexual fantasies: ELECTRIC SHOCK IS APPLIED WHENEVER THE PERSON REPORTS TRANSSEXUAL FANTASIES.
WOW. is this what we have come to? this is done for YOUNG BOYS.
