I think i'm finally starting to get interested in it.
Though its more due to the "WTF?" Moments and the "holy shit, that would hurt me a lot!" stuff, mostly from the NDP. Shutting down the Tar Sands would have a direct negative impact on my job because Albertans buy a lot of our stuff through mail order, and if the economic boom wasn't so strong, we'd probably lose a great deal of those sales. Promises that would lead to job loss = worry.
Also, the opposition to opening up Canadas telecommunications market by them bewilders me. Based on some kind of nebulous "hollowing out of Canada" paranoia, they are willing to continue to accept the monopoly of Bell and Rogers. I guess its okay to rape your customers if you're a Canadian business.
Though my cell and internet bill is my biggest expense after Rent. Its $150 a month, and i get absolutly shit tastic service. a 95 Gig usage is not enough with all the LEGAL streaming videos and dling I do. Apparently 4 hours of Warhammer Online uses up 4 gigs. Thats a Gig and hour. Okay, maybe if thats all I did it would be okay, but with DLC for Xbox games, Steam and streaming video from TV networks sites, it eats it up. Oh boy its fast, but you know what? I don't really care. Chop my speed in half and double my usage. That would work fine. I can live with 4mbs over 8mbs.
But my WTF is not just reserved for the NDP. Harper's comments about "Oh Canadians don't like giving funding to artists and then seeing them at Fancy Galas.". Ah, yea, that's probably 1% of artists in Canada going to that, not to mention they were probably flown and put up in a hotel on the governments nickle. Most artists need that money because they aren't able to make enough money to support themselves totally on their work. Yes Margret Lawrence and Fiest probably don't need it, but Billy Rosenberg who paints abandoned fishing shacks along the Bay of Fundy can use it. And There's way more Billys than the others.
Dion often says stuff that does make sense, but then goes off and says something that makes you go "wait, what?". There are lots of mean things you can say about Steven Harper, but saying he kills things, what?
