Before moving to Japan, I had all these ideas of things I wanted to do. I was going to sign up for cooking classes! I was going to sign up for language classes! I was going to get part time jobs! I was going to travel!
*record scratch*
AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR ALL THAT! Especially not while running a freelance business and moving house (also hosting guests for.... a long time).
Now the house stuff has calmed down, I have all the essentials... my business is... back in business, I can start to make every day routines. But as of now, there are "only" four months left of my working holiday. I need to really think about how I want to spend my spare time.
November is going to be spent studying Japanese! Yay! I haven't signed up for any lessons, but I'll look into it and see what my possibilities are. I signed up for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (N2) back in September, so I'll be sitting that exam December 4th. I brought some N2 self study books with me from Norway, and there are sample exams available online. My goal is to set aside at least two hours every day for studying.
Glancing through the kanji book, it seems I already know a lot of them, so that makes me feel good. But the grammar book??? Uuugh. I hate how language learning in Japan is more about memorising set phrases than studying actual grammar rules. If any of you know a Japanese text book (intermediate level to advanced) that focuses on explaining grammar in-depth rather than presenting tons of set phrases without any explanations, please let me know.
If any of you want to be language buddies and practice writing back and forth in Japanese, let me know! I could really use the practice.
