Godzilla Returns

This is a something that happened a couple of weeks ago, when Christian was still here. We wanted to go on a weekend adventure trip, somewhere along the coast. On our way there, however, Christian spotted the below location on the map, so we changed course and made it our destination for the day. It was a super fun outing.

Yes, you're reading that right. In the middle of nowhere, there is apparently something called "Godzilla Slide".

The "middle of nowhere" on the map above, is actually an enormous flower garden. It was free to enter, and there was an ongoing Cosmos Festival, named as such because of the huge meadow of cosmos flowers in full bloom.

The flower park is called 久里浜花の国 (Kurihama Flower Land). The park was a lot bigger than I had imagined, it had a little train you could ride from one end to the other, and also a bus (that played a super creepy jingle while driving around).

We eventually found 冒険ランド (Adventure land)

And... uuh, yeah, it was a fully functional slide!

!!!! It was so fast, and fun!

But that wasn't the end of our Godzilla adventures. We made our way to the highest point in the park, there was a restaurant and a lookout point.

This is apparently where Godzilla first surfaced in the original film from 1954.

We had a look inside the restaurant, and wouldn't you know it, they sold Godzilla curry?????

As with most Japanese curry, it's not much to look at, but hoooooh boy. It's the spiciest curry I've had in a while. Apparently it's marketed as "so hot, it'll make you breathe fire!" (.... like Godzilla, get it?).

And you can only get it at this park! I am happy I got a chance to try it, though I'm not sure I would recommend it? If you're a huge Godzilla fan, it's a must, obviously... but otherwise? Hmmmmmm.

They had ready made versions you could buy as souvenirs (pop the packet in boiling water, and you've got dinner in 5 minutes, Japanese ready made curry is the best), but hmmmmm hmmmmmm. No. I prefer my sweet curries that won't turn me into Godzilla after a few bites.

geekage, get on this nerds, japan '16, working holiday
