Geek Update

Last weekend was Desucon: Cosplay & Japan, a geek convention focusing on ... cosplay and Japan. It's.. it's sort of right there in the name, yeah. I volunteered to be on crew for the event, and I spent my day checking tickets, helping people in the info booth, gathering contestants for a Pokémon tournament, helping out at the photo stand, and ( Read more... )

geekage, random, film babble, the future is now

Sounds like a fun con! Did you cosplay?

I've never actually seen any of the Back to the Future movies... I guess I really should get on that.

No, I worked on crew - that's me in the top picture, so... yeah just a concrew shirt for me! I'm not really into cosplay myself, I own a costume and some cosplay prop things, but it's all store bought - I don't really care if people make stuff themselves or just buy their costume. I just like dressing up! :)

YES YOU SHOULD!

I love your shoes!

I haven't rewatched the original in years. Though I do remember it really well from my childhood. It came out when I was in the 5th grade. I don't remember much from the sequels, other than Marty's mom gets a boob-job in the second (I think?) and the third is set in the Wild West.

Thanks!!!! :D They're so white and shiny, I'm sort of scared to wear them outside XDDD only on special occasions!!!

It's well worth a re-watch~~! :D

I used to think Back in Time and Power of Love were the same song, oops.

I watched Part 2 for the first time in a long time on Wednesday (I've seen the first one a million times though). I like how much they played with the time travel aspect of everything, but I still think it's the weakest of the three movies. I also noticed the swearing more this time, but that's probably because I usually catch the movies on TV, where the swearing is bleeped out.

Oh and I definitely don't like Marty as much as I did as a kid. Every time he was like "no one calls me chicken" I'm like MARTY NO. Oh and agree with you on the Jennifer dumping. Like why even bring her in the first place.

Hahaha, they do have the same riff(s), so... yeah. But I find all Huey Lewis and the News songs difficult to tell apart.

why even bring her in the first place.

Because they didn't intend for a sequel (say so in director's commentary to the movies), and then they wrote it in such a way she "did not fit in". (They did plan, and film, both sequels together.)

It still sucks for her, and I don't like the actress they replaced the original Jennifer with, she's too clingy. And all the throwbacks are actually because Crispin Glover refused o film in the sequels, and yet they were planned for the same past day (which is brilliant, I think).
