How are all of you doing? I always seem to drop off the planet whenever work gets a little crazy, and the last couple of weeks have been mad crazy. I've had my share of 11 hour workdays now, and as always, things never seem to get any better. It's maddening.
But I'll leave it at that.
I am in a post Oscars daze at the moment, I didn't get yesterday off, so I endured the workday on about 2 hours of sleep. I enjoyed the show, even though NPH didn't deliver what I thought he'd deliver. There were some cool moments (the throwback to Travolta's fuckup last year was probably my fav. moment), and NPH's whole predictions thing was actually pretty fun the more I think about it 8D
I will laugh forever and ever at people's/the internet's reaction to Lady Gaga's Sound of Music tribute. It was an absolutely amazing performance, obvs., but I already knew she could sing. I was mostly blown away by the fact that she resisted the opportunity to tart up the songs and modernize them. It was a perfect tribute. Loved it!
As for the winner and losers, I don't really care 8D I am glad The Grand Budapest Hotel walked away with its share of awards, even though it didn't get best film. I think Grand Budapest walked away with the most awards in total? Though who's keeping count, really.
I am really happy that Interstellar won best sound... editing? Mix? What's the difference between these categories anyway?
And whoever made the presentation slides to present best production design nominees deserves all the awards, because they were GORGEOUS and PERFECT.
I am currently sitting at a cafe working on creating a style guide for a side project I've got going on, and I'm now realising that I've never read a Norwegian style guide before. I have read plenty of translation style guides, but that's not what I'm after here. Halp, what have I gotten myself into. Oh well, we'll see. It helps my motivation that this isn't related to work. Friends approached me and asked if I'd be interested in helping out with linguistic stuff, and yess, yes, yes. It also helps that there's a whole team involved to ask for help and just work this out together. They're hosting a workshop on Thursday, but I feel I need to have something to present at the thing as a starting point. I'm being introduced to everyone as the language expert, so... no pressure. ololololol.
