I spent Thursday evening looking up the correct ergonomic heights/angles for standing desks, and I spent a bit of time adjusting things on Friday. This involved placing my main monitor on a huuuuuuuge stack of papers that I never seem to get around to shredding (and now I never will????). Standing up while working feels GREAT! I always used to get a little restless before, so I took short walks to the office kitchen or just the bathroom to... get to move about. I didn't feel any of that restlessness on Friday. I also felt more on point and in charge somehow. I don't think I've ever replied to e-mails that quickly before. Lolololol.
My feet did not get tired, nor do they hurt today. I think this is because of my awesome work shoes that I brought along to the office ages ago from my previous job at the theatre. My theatre job was a very physically demanding job. I ran around all the time, I carried heavy shit, and I had to look presentable and calm as fuck while doing all of this. Standing up for 8 hours is absolutely no issue for my feet whatsoever, and that's a relief. I must say I was a little worried. I might get a yoga mat or something to stand on later. I'll wait and see how things progress.
I feel a spike in energy! Yes, already! I'm surprised too.
My neck is saying that something still needs adjusting, but that's the extent of the negative things I have to say about doing office work while standing. Also my team mate who's sitting right next to me didn't seem to mind, she even greeted me going "Ooooh, miss fancy pants" ... because I had a new desk. I guess. Hahahhahaha.
After work yesterday, I got together with a group of people to play Dominant Species by GMT games. It's a huge game, and it took us about 5 hours to play through it (we were 6 players). It's so good, but how you're supposed to stay on top of things and strategize your moves in advance, I don't know. The game felt very chaotic and unbalanced in a way with this many players. It was impossible to predict what was going to happen each turn and it kept everyone on their toes. Great fun! I definitely enjoyed the player interaction and all the different ways we could sabotage each other (even ourselves, ololol). I want to play again, but maybe with fewer players? Or I'll just end up in the bottom two again T____T;
