Office life keeps throwing random things at me that I'm not quite sure how to deal with. Last week was an international conference call (it went fine, I didn't say anything much), and this week it's the question of whether or not I want to sign up for this year's Secret Santa. I laugh at myself for even having to think about this, because just last week I overheard some store clerks at a record store discussing their Secret Santas and whether or not they were happy about who they got, and I felt a pang of jealousy, because we don't have fun things like that at the office. But now apparently we do, and I don't know what to do. There are maybe three people at the office I'd be able to buy something for. The other 18 people I barely even know by name. Social awkwardness is a bitch. Should I sit this one out and wait until I know people better, or should I sign up and just buy something really generic (whatever that is)? They've set the spending limit to $20, so money isn't the issue here. It's just the sign up e-mail was all "LET'S GET SOMETHING THAT THE PERSON WILL ENJOY + WILL HINT AT WHO THE SANTA IS!". I would fail at that so hard.
Poll WHAT WOULD LJ DO? Will you guys help me find a gift if I sign up? 8D
Lastly, a big warm welcome to new friends. I have a rather lengthy intro post
over here. Short version goes like this;
My name is Tove, I'm 25. I live in a one room flat with my boyfriend, Christian. I work as a translator at a translating firm in Oslo, and a lot of my current posts are about dealing with office life (something that was completely new to me when I started working there in January). I play a lot of video games, and watch a lot of films. Tokyo Disneyland is my #1 obsession. If you have any questions feel free to ask me whatever! :]
