Google+

I sometimes love being obsessively addicted to the internet. Like tonight, I was just randomly checking to see if there was anything new going on with Google+, and what do you know, I was able to sign up. They apparently just doubled their capacity, and I was lucky enough to grab myself a spot. Half an hour later and sign ups were closed again. Magic.

I'm just clicking around trying to get familiar with the features. Absolutely love the look and feel so far... and perhaps best of all NO ANNOYING SOCIAL GUILT TRIP GAMES. Let's hope it'll stay that way forever and ever. Or should they seep in, the whole Circle structure will make it easy to filter that shit the hell out.

I mean Facebook has a friendslist function too, but they added that in pretty late, didn't they? I can't even remember, I just remember lazily setting some up, but now I always forget about them and I never sort new people I add into them so it's a bit of a wasted effort anyway. With Google+ the Circles are the basis for all your interactions. You can't add a person without choosing a circle for that person. It just makes for a very clean appearance, and makes me feel comfortable sharing things, since I know who'll be seeing what (you can filter your status updates, photos and everything else to just be shown to certain circles, making it relevant for that group of friends!).

And just like the filters on LJ, people you add won't know the name of the circle they're on, so you're all just friends, basically. I like that.

I have a feeling I'll be a lot more active on Google+ than on facebook once it gets going and I figure everything out. Please do add me if you are on there! I'd love to have more people to play around with.

I am now contemplating adding in the new LJ feature to my posts, so that I can have a +1 button (Google+'s Like feature) on my posts. Derp. They're so ugly, though :/ Maybe later when/if they'll be placed with the metadata/comment link and not as a part of the entry itself.

I'm also trying to get Google+ to run on my phone, but I'm having a hell of a time adding my new google account to my phone. WHY YOU NO WORK?. ... I'll keep trying.

internet is serious business
