Hats off to her making you interested in pop music again - though, no offense, I can't stand that woman. Everything about her ist just so provocative and waaay over the top, it's ridiculous. Alejandro stuck somewhat, but all her other stuff is just so ... mainstream. Without her videos and appearance, I doubt she'd be noticed very much, but hey, that's just MHO.

I understand why people don't like her, really. It took me a while to get into her (and before today, I found her kind of ugly <,<;;; )... but I decided to get the album (I think because of Paparazzi? .. I can't remember), and just fell in love with the music. It's light hearted on the outside, but delve into it somewhat and it really hits you. She's so cheeky and provocative with everything she does, and I love it. She's kind of anti-pop in the pop-est way possible XD If you know what I mean ( ... )

IDK, I prefer singers with actual voices. I've seen a documentary on German TV somewhere and it showed how she worked in studio - most of it was electronically enhanced and she didn't have much of a voice on her own. She could never do an acapella sample of her songs somewhere without sounding ridiculous.
But maybe my obsession with voices only stems from being hard of hearing and needing to hear singers over all the electronic stuff.

... uuuhm I don't know. I love her acapella stuff. But maybe I'm not as critical of raw voices as you?

edit: whoops, embed didn't work, link! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7HvURBhMGE

Anyway, her electronica sound doesn't bother me the slightest. But then again, I'm a huge fan of electronic and chiptune music, I like it when artists play around with that, but they have to do it right. It's very easy to misuse, and most end up doing that, which is sad :/

Ugh, YouTube won't let me watch, the vid is blocked in my country...

Yeah, electronic is not so much my cup of tea, simply because a lot of singers that I used to like destroyed their sympathy points with me by going overboard with this kind of sound - Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Christina Aguilera, just to name a few. I just hope LeAnn will never start that shit and instead keep using her real voice so well.

Oh, that's too bad. XD;;;

edit: found another live rendition of the song I meant to link in my first comment. Maybe this works? xD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0M2u-cu0so

When I say chiptune/electronica I mean instrumental tracks mostly. Though there are some electronic singers I like too, like Perfume and Hatsune Miku. So yeah, when artists use stuff like that in their music it'll appeal to me xD; Though a lot of people aren't doing it right :P Autotune or whatever should be used as a fun extra element, not to actually aid singing lol.

I didn't mean electronica as a style of music, sorry if I confused you. I was just trying to describe what I meant ... until you dropped the word Autotune, which was exactly what I was fishing for describing i.e. Aguilera "new" music. ^__^

But, I did not expect that ... why does she do this autotune/electronically enhance thingy at all if she can sound like this in the video? Just the style ... please, no. XD
