So it turns out that Translation II is just Translation now. They've cancelled Translation I which (logically enough) used to be a prerequisite to Translation II. Aaah, UiO, why do you keep doing this? Ah well, no matter. So now I'll have to go through a bit of repetition from Translation I as the students who never went through the prerequisite ( Read more... )

As a translation fiend, I look forward to helping if I can!

I did MA translation modules for FUN when I lived in Berlin, and helped the German students with their idiomatic English.

Ah, cool stuff :D

I'm mostly doing this for fun too, though I think I really am interested in working with translation later on~ But competition is rough. Hum, hum, we'll see! :)

If/when I visit Norway, can it be during the summer please? (You guys don't have snow during the summer, right?)

I would absolutely love to visit :D But I'm not sure what I'd do once I arrived... I'm not a natural 'traveller'...

I'd be happy to help out with translation input. Grammar can be especially rough, but that's a special area for me, so I'm happy to help! :D

Yay, yay. That's awesome :D

I'm usually good at writing coherent English (I think 8D), but it's a completely different thing to try and translate a text written by somebody else for an audience you may not identify with. Suddenly you fall into all these translation pitfalls, look at what you've just written and go; "D: Good God, I did that? O_O But, but. *flail flail*". Coming up with clever solutions that flow well in English is difficult when presented with texts riddled with expressions, compounds, and idioms not found in English. Aaaah this class is going to be a treat ♥ XDDD

Odd sleeping patterns will cause those vivid dreams! It's kind of fun to dream though, but dreaming morbid things... lol a little bit intense.
