“Are you warm enough Seth?” Esme asked as she tucked him into the bed they had made up on the couch. It had been so long since she had had someone young enough to tuck in, even if Seth was over six foot tall.
Seth chuckled. “Esme, my temperature runs a constant hundred and eight degrees. I’m warm enough.”
Esme laughed softly and ruffled his hair. “Get some sleep. The storm will be over by morning and I’ll let you leave.” Soon after Seth had gotten there that afternoon, a terrible storm had unleashed its fury and had yet to let up. Seth knew he would make it home just fine but Esme refused to let him leave.
“Goodnight Esme,” Seth said with a yawn. She smiled and turned the light off as she left the room. Seth closed his eyes and was almost asleep when there was a slight creak and his eyes snapped open. Jasper stood at the entryway to the living room, a blanket in his arms.
“Oh, she already got you a blanket…” He said softly. “I’ll just…”
Seth threw the blanket Esme had tucked around him off and gave Jasper a smile. It was worth a shot… “I could actually use a cool down if you…wanted to join me?”
Jasper would have blushed if he could have. He glanced back up the stairs, Alice stood at the top and shooed him on with a smile. Turning his gaze back to Seth, Jasper smiled and joined him on the couch. “I think I will take you up on that offer.”
