-I'm sure I'm in the tiny minority but I really could have lived without the silliness of Cas watching porn and then getting a boner. It all just felt forced and off: the pacing, the timing, the delivery, eh." If it's a minority, I'm right there with you. It was uncomfortable, and silly and a boner? Really?

The parts of this ep I loved were Dean's conversation/argument with Cas over restoring Sam's soul and all the problems that could ensue. Dean's conversation with Samuel in his office over his deal with Crowley to bring Mary back to life. Meg ganking the hell hounds and her smile when she said "Dean Winchester is behind you." That name should send every demon in the world running for cover, but still they just don't get it. And my favorite favorite part? Dean's conversation with Samuel when he was in the cell. Badass and Gramps still doesn't get what he's dealing with in Dean. He will when Dean catches up with him though. If Dean can go through with killing his grandfather.

What I hated. The torture scene with Meg. WTF. Couldn't they just tie her to a chair like Crowley's shifter, if they had to go there at all? No, because then she wouldn't be naked on a table with Christian able to get at all the parts that are infuriating the fans today. I hated it when it was Ruby and I hated it when it was Meg. And I loathe both characters so it's not like it's because I like them. Sick bastards.

Give us back Sam, damn it and do it quick!

It was like one of the writers brought in their 12-year-old to write the "hilarity" of that scene.

I liked all the parts that you pointed out, so yeah -- it wasn't a total loss. For me though, the torture-porn and rape jokes and gay panic all left such a bad taste in my mouth that I had trouble enjoying the good moments.

What worries me most is the sense I'm getting that the writers are just making this stuff up as they go and don't have an actual plan for getting Sam's soul back. I hope I'm wrong about this but I have a pretty good sense for when a writing staff is floundering and that's the feeling I'm getting from this show right now. Mass resets and retcons aren't a good sign.
