weekends need to be the longer part of the week....
Got to spent a little time with my honey this weekend. We headed out to a B&B in Douglas (just over from Saugatuck on Lake Michigan). The B&B is in a nice location on the bluff right across the street from the beach access ( a very long staircase). It was cold on Friday night but we bundled up and took a walk down the beach, we watched the most beautiful sunset. You couldn't see the sun but it lit up the clouds making them look like orange and pink cotton candy. We had set out to do nothing all weekend maybe read a little but the weather was so nice on Saturday. The house had bikes to use and there was a home tour going on so we decided it would be fun to spend the day peeking around at other peoples houses, we saw 6 altogether. My favorite house was just a few doors down from where we were staying, a beautifully updated 1920 log cabin, like something you would see in a magazine and it's only a weekend house ( must buy lottery tickets!). I was surprised at the amount of stuff some people left out, one house had open shelf's of prescription medication in the bathroom.
Favorite part of the b&b was the owners dog that sat on the roof and looked into our bedroom window, funny thing to wake up to, breakfasts were pretty good too.
When we were out bike riding we found a place that rents small 1950 style cottages on the river. Seeing as it's only a hour forty five minute trip I think we need to get away more often.
