i actually realized i have much more time than i accounted for while i'm staying in nyc, so i'll be able to comment and read the f-list :)
i was able to get some pictures of my art projects for art class in school today,
and so here they are:
they're all based on my own nationality's culture --
the phoenix
2 years ago, during the two weeks of chinese new year, we watched the celebrations in hong kong at night on tv; fireworks exploded the inky dark sky into a kaleidoscope of reds and magentas, oranges and yellows .... boats were strewn about the ocean underneath, with their lights tinkling ... everyone was watching the fireworks. i held my breath when there were so many fireworks that completely covered the sky and the night disappeared.
i tried to remember everything ... the boats ... the tinkling lights ... the fireworks, the colors -- i wrapped it all up and tucked it deep within my heart.
it was absolutely beautiful.
that's what this piece is. it's done in oil pastels.
it's my most favorite work i've ever done so far.
