So, back here at home for about 3 weeks now. There are a lot of things that contrast in my mind that I think about constantly - how lucky I am to have been born in America, lucky that in America education is mostly mandatory and not a choice, how thankful I am to have had any choices, period. When you go to Africa and see the sins of our colonial past - it makes you realize - yes, we have hurt these people and they deserve to be helped - we have an obligation to provide to help these people.I take huge exception to that. The vast majority of the raping of Africa is by Europe. Hell, I'd say all of it is. And last I checked, we aren't European. And even if you want to pull this bullshit of "well, we're of European descent", we're IRISH, we can't build a boat that goes more than 2 miles off shore, we had NOTHING to do with Africa ( ... )

Uh....we ARE in certain places in Africa - mainly embassies and huge military compounds like we have built in Diego Garcia and Djbouti. Now, we weren't the main colonizers, to be sure...but we have had our moments there, exploiting natural resources like the Nigerian river delta that is owned by Big Oil. Remember Liberia? That was a country founded by ex-American slaves, it's capital is named after James Monroe - Monrovia. We haven't exactly helped them through their times of strife, poverty and corruption ( ... )

It's not stupid, Sean. It's wise. From the little you've written, you have concluded she's not looking to get married again (the "traditional" route), and she doesn't sound in a rush to start a family. You are 35, and although healthy males can produce sperm well into their 80s, you're better off not wasting time with nice girls with whom you have a decent time, waiting for them to catch up with you on matters of marriage and babies. The matters that are important to you.
