It was another enjoyable commute home tonight, listening to
WCAP AM 980 out of Lowell, Massachusetts . . . specifically, live talk featuring Regina Fatacanti and John McDonough, replete with their outrageous accents. Here's a sampling:
John: It's wicked hot today.
Regina: Yah, wicked!
John: Did yah get yeh air condishunah runnin' yet?
Regina: I have to change the filtahs first, I'm gonna' do that tonight.
John: You bettah, it's wicked.
Regina: Yah. Hay, did ya' hear about the packie over in Summahvell (Somerville) that had its life-sized autographed cahdboard cut-out of Nomah Gahciaparruh (Nomar Garciaparra) kidnapped?
John: No suh!
Regina: Yah huh, and get this, the kidnappuhs ahh askin' seventy MILLYUN dollahs for its return! Imagine that?!
John: I think they ahh in fuh a long wait . . .
Regina: Yah, and they said if they don't get their money, they ahh gonna' cut off Nomah's head!

Like I said, it ain't NPR, but I smile the entire ride home . . .
