I just endured the most amazingly passive-aggressive blame-denying apology from my father. I should've kept a tally of how many times he admitted it was all my fault. That has to be some kind of new record.
ANYWAY, FLIST, HI. Hello. I have two minor and unrelated questions for you!
The first is related to Transformers! I keep meaning to go catch up on all of the Prime episodes, but, uh. Iiii have no idea where to do this. Now, admittedly, I've not yet dug anywhere close to as far as I could. I am lazy. Does anyone know of anywhere (like a youtube user, or something? I know My Little Pony poooniiiiiieeees! has an individual or two who get fairly high quality vids of episodes up within a few hours...) where I could watch the increasingly-massive backlog of episodes I've accumulated? I am sure someone must have an idea, yes? Surely you do not all get the Hub...? (Friggin' station. NO ONE within our budget carries it!)
The second is related to VIDEO GAMES whoooo! And it is less easy and possibly more technical and I have tried finding answers for this one on and off over the years. SO LIKE. My television (which is not nearby so I cannot begin to tell you what it is which is kind of embarrassing right it is not like I have had it for uh eight or more years now) always - has always - cuts off the edges of the screen when I am playing video games on my PS2 on it. It is really irritating! It is not massive amounts lost, but it is enough to be noticeable. And apparently this happens with other televisions, too, it is not just mine (nor it is exclusively my PS2, because the one we tested tonight was a Toshiba MW24FM3 and we used my brother's PS2). We have tried adjusting the screen, itself, but that's gone nowhere helpful. Sooo... any of you game-players, have you ever noticed this? and if not what is your television and where can i buy one
Now to make up for that, here is a horrible story about BIRDS. Or, rather, a bird. A female goldfinch!
And the birdfeeder. Oh, the poor thing, oh, oh, it was awful.
... but you would like to know what, right, yes. SO. My mother was at the hospital again Friday (follow-up retinal exam) and I had the day off, so I drove her home, and we stopped for some groceries along the way - all in all, it was a 3-4 hour adventure for her. And we had been starving after sitting around waiting for over an hour, so we'd grabbed a bit of ready-to-eat food. And Mom is repainting the kitchen, so there is literally nowhere to sit in there right now. And we have a bird feeder hanging near the house because the cat likes to sit and watch them (she is not a very good cat, in some ways. I am okay with this). So there is the situation. And so there we all are, sitting outside at the picnic table, watching/listening as the birds swarmed the feeder in a strange manner, noshing away, and Mom eventually asked Dad if he had refilled the birdfeeder, as she had asked. No, he had not. Ugh. So, since she was done, anyway, she got up and got the seeds and went over and lowered the feeder and - oh. That's ... odd. A little bird stayed on the feeder. Mom glanced at it and gasped, thinking it was dead. How did this happen??
... wait, no! She's alive! And trapped! So, quickly, she detaches the feeder completely and tries to wriggle the poor thing out. Her head was stuck in one of the feeder holes! But wriggling got nowhere, so she brought it over to the table and gently tipped the remaining seed out, trying to get a look at the problem. It was really hard to tell, but I noted there was some mess accumulating in spots inside, so perhaps there was junk build-up and she'd got stuck that way? No good, no good! Mom went and got a little wooden skewer, to try and knock the stuff aside, no good... So I offered the little bird the stick as a perch, since her struggles had got her pinned at an angle where she didn't really have anywhere to set both feet (she'd managed to wedge one into the hole alongside her neck... probably not helping...). And Dad thought, wait a sec, this thing is held together with screws! And ran for his toolbox, and then we very carefully took the feeder apart. And, yeah, it was some seed mash that had pinned her in. I knocked it loose and WHOOSH she was off like a shot (she seemed traumatised, but otherwise undamaged).
... AND THEN I WENT BACK TO MY LUNCH OF CHICKEN WINGS you gotta admit that is kinda funny. (My store/the chain has put in a wing bar, and since we were hungry, we were like, WELL LET'S TRY IT!)
And all the birds that had been calling unhappily earlier, and jumping all around the feeder (it wasn't just the goldfinches, either. We had a couple varieties, including a woodpecker), well... they'd quieted down when Mom went up to the feeder and watched in terse silence as we man-handled their friend. But, yay! After she was free, they all started singing and chirping, so loudly! It was nice. And I am super glad we found her before too much time had passed (since Mom had checked the feeder before she left, and since Dad had been mowing in the area we figure she was stuck there for less than three hours. Which is still a long while, but at least she was not dead, as we originally feared).
... so, yay for birds!
