A teal Rav4 pulled over to the side of the road. The two occupants glaring out the front window at the impending town. “Well,” the driver started, “here’s our newest stop.”
The passenger huffed, “it doesn’t really look promising.”
The driver shrugged, “well we really can’t be picky. We’ve been moving from town to town since the...” she paused glancing at the passenger before peering out the window once more, “maybe it’s time we finally settled down?”
A scoffed came as her first reply, “in this stupid looking town? Really? The population has to barely be over a hundred.”
“Maybe that’s just what we need, stay on the down low for a while,” she earned a particular glance in response and laughed, “okay, okay, you’re right. We are hardly tameable.”
“No shit,” the passenger grumbled grumpily, she was tired of moving from city to city. It was tiresome to have to pack up what little they had just so they could avoid detection. They’d gotten quite good at covering their tracks over the years, but even they slipped up from time to time, especially when they got bored. With a sigh the young woman rolled down the window, “Let’s just get this...” she paused, sniffing the air before wild brown eyes turned to the other woman, “do you smell that?”
A brow rose and the driver sniffed at the air filtering in the suv, brown eyes widening before a mischievous smile played on her lips, “Wolves? We’re not alone in this town.”
The passenger's grin widened to match the other, eyes twinkling in delight, “well this town just became a lot more interesting.”

The sun was just beginning to set when the teal Rav4 pulled up to the end of the woods. With it being autumn, the darkness looked quite foreboding, just the way they liked it.
“This is it?” the passenger asked, a playful smile on her lips as she looked into the darkness.
“Yep, let’s go Angel. Maybe our new neighbors will play with us.”
The other woman clapped her hands together, “This should be fun. It’s been awhile since we’ve met any other wolves.” With a nod, Angel was out of the car and standing at the edge of the woods. She glanced back at the car, brow raised, “You coming out anytime this year Kristi?”
The driver laughed, before swinging open the door and stepping out. “I’m coming. I’m coming relax.”
She was just as excited to see what these wolves would hold for them. If the encounter turned out like all the others, the night would end in bloodshed, and more often than not, it wasn’t their own. She partially hoped this time would be different.
Kristi came to the other woman’s side, the pair venturing into the woods. The women felt much more relaxed now that they were out of the vehicle, treacherous hours of being confined were enough to drive anyone mad. Besides it was making their wolves restless. They needed the open air, it was one of the full things that kept them calm nowadays.
Angel smiled, turning to the other woman, “want to race?”
Kristi rolled her eyes but couldn’t keep the smile from her face, “do I have any choice?”
The other woman shook her head, “nope. Ready and go!”
The two rushed through the woods, weaving in and out of trees as they kept in pace with each other. The pairs laughter echoed through the otherwise empty woods. It seemed like forever until Kristi paused, the hairs on the back of her neck raising as she looked this way and that. Angel stopped, noticing the absence of the other woman.
With a brow raised, she approached the still woman, “What’s wrong?”
“We’re not alone,” she tilted her head up and sniffed the air, a low growl escaping her throat, “smell.”
Angel’s brow rose impossibly higher, “the other wolves?” she did as told and matched the other woman’s action, her reaction identical.
A twin set of brown eyes glanced at each other, their eyes flashing as Angel uttered “hunter” under her breathe. Without another word, the two women followed the scent.

Allison sighed as she trekked through the woods towards the old burnt Hale house, silently cursing Lydia under her breath for leaving her at the edge of the woods.
“You’ll be fine,” the redhead had said, “I don’t know why you want to go into those creepy woods away, but I have a date and I can’t wait for you.”
She’d just waved with a playful smile on her lips, before taking off down the road and back into town. Allison loved their friendship, but sometimes she wondered if it were true. The young girl paused as she heard a twig snap behind her. Whipping her head in the direction of the sound, Allison saw nothing but the intimidating shadows of the darkening woods.
She shook her head in a way to clear her thoughts. She’d been through so much already with what happened to her Aunt Kate and finding out that the horror stories about the things that went bump in the night were true, she was just letting her imagination get the better of her.
The teen took a deep breath, “Come on Allison, you’ve faced worse already. You’re just hearing things.” Squaring her shoulders, the girl continued onward.
“Are you sure?” a feminine voice asked from behind, once again turning to see nothing. She looked this way and that squinting into the darkness, gasping as she saw what looked like blood red eyes staring back at her. Just as quickly as she spotted them, they were gone when she seeked them out again.
She needed to get to the house and quickly, she needed the boys. There was something else in the woods and she was wishing she hadn’t left her bow and arrows at the house.
“You shouldn’t run,” a different voice called, “it only makes the chase worse.”
Allison made the mistake of turning to check if she was being followed, blood red eyes flashing in and out of her sight. She let out a small ‘Oomph’ as she crashed into something and fell back onto the ground. Brown eyes slowly opened to see another girl standing just ahead of her, arms crossed over her chest as she glared down at her.
She stood up quickly, dusting off the dirt from her clothes as she sighed in relief. “Are you lost?” she asked, looking up at the other girl to see she wasn’t standing alone any more. Another woman stood beside the first in an identical stance.
“You’re rather pathetic looking for a hunter,” the new woman stated, eyes taking in Allison’s slim form.
The other woman laughed, “kind of like the last one.”
The first nodded, “yeah but she put up a pretty good fight before she managed to get away. This one looks like she won’t stand a chance.”
Allison took a step away from the women, it regretted even more her decision to leave her bow at home. These girls’ were obviously something supernatural from the way they spoke about hunters and from her senses were telling her, they were wolves on top of it. She eyed them warily.
The first, whom she had apparently crashed into, stood in a lazy manner, long dark hair pulled back into a ponytail. The second stood in a much more regal manner, short pixie-like hair framing her face. Allison shook her head, she needed to get out of here and fast, before the pair remembered she was there. She took anything step back, flinching as she stepped onto a fallen tree branch.
The women’s heads whipped back to her direction, the long haired woman smiling at her, “I already told you sweetie, running will only make things worse for you.”
The other woman nodded, “Exactly, we’ll make it as painless as possible.”
Frightened eyes shifted from one girl to the other, the action only bringing wider smiles to their lips. Allison took a deep breath the name “SCOTT!” echoing loud and clear through the woods.
