OMG Aribeth!

I've been playing Neverwinter Nights for the first time recently, and let me say: it's a shiny, shiny game. I'm also in love with the character Tomi Undergallows. (Of course, this is only proving my friends right that I have a soft spot for rouges/thieves/outlaws.) But anyway, very fun game. Character creation is nice and easy, and fun, because you can choose what kind of voice you want your character to have. And it's not a ridiculously hard game (unless you want it to be), unlike some other games I could mention *coughNarniacoughcough* that had levels that were difficult to the point of sadistic. I mean, knock down three giants with bundles of sticks that are hard to aim and shatter whenever a giant stomps down too hard before they cross the little clearing and kill your centaur archers? Come on. That's just ridiculous. Okay, done ranting; back to Neverwinter Nights. So yeah, fun game with a crazy plot twist. Thanks BioWare, I always enjoy having my brain smashed out with a gold brick wrapped around a slice of lemon. Granted, this plot twist wasn't quite as mind blowing as the ones in Knights of the Old Republic (which came completely out of nowhere). At least you could sort of see the possibility of Aribeth going all darkside and evil. You just don't expect it to actually happen. Although I have to say, they went about revealing it in a clever way. You just sort of stumble upon it, which makes it all the more surprising. It probably would have been pretty fun to watch me playing the game when it got to that point, since I choked on my drink and almost sprayed it all over the desk. But I suppose I would rather have mind boggling plot twists than a boring game. And BioWare certainly knows how to make good rpgs. I wish they'd given you the ability to choose your character's voice in KOTOR though. I like that. I also like how your companions shout random crap before going into battle (in both NWN and KOTOR). Some of the things are funny ("Just die already!", "Here comes halfing death!", "Down you go!"), some are actually in character ("Time to even the odds" "Never too old for this!" "Rage of the Red Tiger!"(when you know what character that last one is from, you realize that it actually is in character)), and some are just ridiculous ("I will be you're DOOM!" ,"Time to rumble", "Rage of the Red Tiger!" (yes, it may be in character, but it's still ridiculous)). Well, I'm off to play more Neverwinter Nights. I'm almost finished with the original campaign! Woot!

And now I leave you with a super cool video that will (if it doesn't give you a siezure) leave you very impressed.
