Prompt: Chuck, Bryce/Chuck, AU Bryce ends up being Chuck's handler

“Hey, man, you want some company on the drive home?” Morgan asks, as Chuck starts to pack up the computers he had been working on.

“Nah,” he replies, giving his friend a smile. “I’ll see you there.”

He smile as Morgan walks out, wondering what Ellie will say tonight when Morgan shows up.

It doesn’t take him long to finish up, walking outside to his car.

He jumps when he feels a hand on his arm, glaring when he sees Bryce behind him.

“Hey,” Bryce says, small smile on his face. “Can I take you out for a drink?”

Frowning, Chuck reminds himself again that Bryce is his enemy, and enemies don’t go out for drinks.

“No,” he replies, turning back to open the car.

“Chuck,” Bryce says, something in his voice making Chuck turn back to him, looking back over his shoulder when he sees Bryce staring at something behind him. “I need you to trust me.”

Giving a laugh of disbelief, Chuck turns back to look at the other man, something in him softening when he sees the raw panic on Bryce’s face, something he’s never seen before.

“Please, Chuck,” he says, moving closer. “I’ll explain everything, but we need to leave right now.”

Staring at Bryce for a long moment, he feels himself nod, surprised when Bryce snatches the keys out of his hands.

“Get in,” Bryce commands, the panicked look gone, and Chuck wonders if he’s been duped again.

Moving around to the passenger side door, he gets in, quickly putting on his seat belt when Bryce races out of the car park.

“Yesterday, Chuck,” Bryce starts, as he speeds in and out of traffic. “A blonde came into the Buy More and gave you a computer.”

Frowning, Chuck looks over at Bryce, wondering if the other man is stalking him, and why he isn’t horrified at the thought.

“How did you-”

“There are cameras everywhere, Chuck,” Bryce cuts him off. “And the people I work for have access. When we met in school I’d already been recruited by them.”

“Recruited by who?” Chuck asks, staring at the other man in shock.

“The CIA,” Bryce replies. “I work for the CIA, Chuck, and so did that woman. She stole information, important information, containing secrets from both the CIA and NSA, secrets that no one was ever meant to see. And now the NSA is after you. They want the information and they’ll hurt you to get it.”

“But, I didn’t,” Chuck says, swallowing hard, shaking his head. “I broke it. I … I’m just a Nerd Herder. I'm not ...”

Bryce looks over at him with an unreadable look in his eyes.

“Did you see anything on the computer before it smashed?” Bryce asks, turning down one of the streets.

“I … there was all of these images,” Chuck says, trying to stop his heart from racing, his breaths coming too quickly, and he wonders briefly if he’s having an asthma attack.

Bryce looks at him again, neither of them seeing the other car until it had slammed into them, their car skidding along.

Getting out of the car, he groans when Bryce grabs him, running him over to the nearest building.

As they start to enter he sees the man from his earlier flash, another set of images flashing through his mind, this time seeing explosions, bombs, CIA documents and passport information.

Before he’s able to say anything, Bryce has grabbed his hand, racing him up the steps, until they burst out onto the roof, Chuck wondering what Bryce has planned next.

“Don’t freak out, Chuck,” Bryce says. “But I might have to point my gun at you.”

Before he can say anything, a gruff voice sounds from behind him, his eyes widening as Bryce pulls a gun on him.

“He’s ours, Larkin.”

“The CIA gets him first, Casey” Bryce replies and Chuck tries to tell himself that Bryce wouldn’t betray him again, as the man the gruff voice belongs to comes into his vision, holding a gun on Bryce.

Bryce moves his gun to point it at ‘Casey’.

Turning, intending to run, Chuck almost curses when the images come this time when he looks at the hotel across from the building, stopping him in his tracks as he slowly starts to put all the images together, like a big puzzle, remembering the explosives guy had been carrying a bag from the Large Mart.

“They’re going to try and kill him,” Chuck says, eyes widening.

“What?” Bryce asks, clearly still paying attention to him, even when it seemed all of his focus was on the NSA agent.

“I’ve been having these images flash in my head when I see things,” he explains, moving towards the two men. “Earlier, I saw this man, Vuc Andric, he’s an-”

“Explosive’s expert,” Bryce answers, nodding, shooting glances at Chuck. “He’s here?”

“Yeah, and the General … and he’s going to try and kill him,” Chuck says, raising his eyebrows when the two men just stare at him.

“What?” he asks.

“You see all this in ‘flashes’?” Casey asks, glaring at him.

“The Intersect is in you,” Bryce breathes, a small smile on his face. “You are the computer.”

“You’re kidding me right?” Casey asks, turning to look at Bryce.

“Do you know where the bomb is, Chuck?” Bryce asks, moving towards him

Staring out over the ocean, Chuck takes a deep breath, wondering if he just imagined the night before.

After telling Bryce and Casey about the explosives they had all gone to the hotel the General was at, Chuck able to disarm the bomb at the last second using the ‘Irene Demova’ virus.

“So what happens now?” he asks, feeling Bryce behind him, trying to ignore the warmth coming from the other man, and how it makes his skin tingle, when he sits down next to him.

“You’ll go on living your life,” Bryce replies. “Except, now, you’ll help the CIA and NSA when needed. Casey and I will be … sticking around.”

“There’s nowhere I can run is there?” he asks, his shoulder brushing against Bryce’s.

“No,” Bryce replies, looking at him apologetically. “I’m sorry, Chuck. I never wanted this life for you.”

Frowning, Chuck looks at him, wondering when Bryce had thought about him being part of the CIA.

“In Stanford,” Bryce says, staring off over the ocean, and Chuck wonders for a moment if Bryce can actually read minds, and how cool that would be. “The CIA was going to recruit you back then. You were, are, the only person I’ve ever … I cared too much about you to let you become like me. That’s why I did what I did.”

Bryce turns and looks at him, the look in his eyes making Chuck’s breath catch in his throat as he sees the honesty and emotion there.

“I believe you,” he whispers, eyes flicking down to Bryce’s lips, before looking back up at Bryce’s eyes, seeing them darken slightly.

Clearing his throat, he leans back, not having realized how close their heads had been to each other, and looks back out over the ocean.

“Come on,” Bryce says quietly, standing up, offering him his hand. “I’ll take you home.”
