Protect your pons and get out your cricket bat: the Zombies are coming. Whether you fear them as “the living dead,” “the mobile deceased,” or “come on guys, they aren’t real, so there’s nothing to worry aboAAAAAAAAGGHGHGHGHGHGHGHGH,” you should know that a UChicago group has your back (and brainstem), pal. While they have yet to completely Zombie-proof the quads, the Task Force has been active in campus Zombie awareness, including acquiring over $5,000 from the Uncommon Fund to bring Max Brooks, Zombie defense expert and author of The Zombie Survival Guide and World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, to campus in 2008. In an interview in the Chicago Maroon newspaper after receiving funding, Task Force co-founder Justin Hartmann commented, “Max Brooks can help U of C students remember the important things in life, like protecting ourselves from the undead.” They are currently listed as a “Political/Advocacy” RSO.
