(no subject)

Lovely, lovely day.

Well. Eventually. I wasn't in the most fabulous mindset this morning (I had a million things to do before noon, Isobel has decided that sleep is something that happens to other people [but not to me], and I was feeling generally unloved, frustrated, and invisible) but the clouds lifted as the day progressed & everything turned out rather nicely.

Nanny & I took Isobel for her second flu vaccine today & she was so brave. I let her look at The Pretty Baby in Mommy's Phone & she didn't make a peep. They took forever though, so it was nearly 3:00 by the time we all got to Galax.

I finished up Dora's grocery list & picked up a few necessities (the random assortment of cake pans, Easter dresses for Isobel, still more jelly beans, and tomatoes that only Wal-Mart can provide) while Nanny & Isobel went off & did their own thing for a bit. It was good for me, and I think they had a good time too.

We went to The Galax Smokehouse for dinner. Best pulled pork sandwiches in the known universe, without question. Or maybe it's the Sweet Mountain barbecue sauce. Chicken, egg, etc.

And whilst we're on the subject of chickens... I stopped by Tractor Supply on the way home to look for Dillard's birthday present. I finally managed to locate the required item & was turning to leave when I heard a strange sort of chirping sound, which I followed to the centre of the store thinking "Surely not..." But it was! Baby chicks & ducks & rabbits, omg! Tiny bantams no longer than my pinkie finger! Fluffy little clucks & quacks, wobbling around clucking & quacking! Fluffy little rabbits just sitting there sleeping! It is testament to my (well-hidden) willpower that I left without baby chicks...although if I'd been certain of the terms of my homeowners' covenant, I might've had a new hobby. So much cute.

So, now here we are. I finally managed to get Isobel to sleep about...oh...20 minutes ago. Part of me wants to crack open a beer & put my feet up, but the rest of me knows that it's 11pm already & she'll still get up at 7:30 tomorrow. Bedtime, I reckon.
