Walk of doooooooom

May 20, 2008 16:01

So today I an uber walk. At least, imho what could be called an uber walk. I walked from my parents' place to the downtown core of North Bay. I estimate it's about 4 kms each way (my dad insists it's likely more). So now my flabby legs are screaming at me for my (mis)treatment of them. Blarg.

I feel fit though ... or something.

Bought another stack of books today. Okay, so I'm by far not an advocate for thrift stores, mainly because I'm always afraid of getting krabs from used clothing. O_o That being said however, they are an excellent place to get used books! Value Village has a deal where if you buy 4 books you get a 5th book for free. So for $21 I picked up 5 books that would have cost me $100 retail. And they're all in mint condition. Yipee!

Last night was a joint bday dinner for my sister's boyfriend Patate and myself. We went to East Sides, which ironically doesn't card you for birthdays anymore. Granted, now their 'birthday surprise!' is a free panna cota dessert and a $5 giftcard for a future visit. Now I never liked the idea of a panna cota, because like milky jello. And on it's own it does taste quite horrible. However, paired with a chocolate sauce and raspberry coulis it is amazing. I want to try and make it myself now, but with real vanilla beans to give the curd a little zing.

Also, I got my ass handed to me (repeatedly) by some guy named Lurch on the MarioKart wifi network. Wtf. He's probably like 8 yrs old with braises and no friends, laughing his little ass off (snorting in his laugh) at how bad he pwnz my ass. Ugh. I can only improve, right? I need to have more friends play on the network so I stand a chance at actually beating someone.

In other news ... I guess that's about it actually. I should probably read, since I have like a bazillion books to get through now. Oh dear.
