So, here's a basic recap of the last couple days:
Wednesday was my last day of improv...we're going to be performing on the 27th, in the morning, for all of the school. I'm so sad that it's over because it was the highlight of my week...these people made me laugh...and taught me some stuff too...cheesy, i know, but its true!
Thursday was the FAB fundraiser at the Second City. I sold raffle tickets and checked in people and such before the show. We got some good seats nearly front and center (I didn't want to be in the front row, but close enough so that I could see, ya know?) Lots of people we knew were there. One of my dad's old friends from college was there. His son is a freshman at my school. It was funny, we were talking and looking over at our dads like well, this is odd... I sat sort of near the improv/drama kids. You know, Jordan, Marissa, John Dixon, those people. They're a bunch of sweethearts, I swear I'm going to miss them like nobody's business next year.
The show was sooooooo good. Wow. They don't take just anyone at the Second City for a good reason! So much talent on one stage...and just 6 people! I remember one of the guys from the Letters to Santa thing...his name is Brian Gallivan...yeah, he was funny... (Leah, do you remember the sea monkey musical? He was in that. I think he was the guy pretending to be the sea monkey...creepy...haha) We hung around after the maintstage show for a cool 20 minute straight improv set. We need to go back for more!!!! Need more improv! Yeah, I love this stuff.
The crowd was filled with such nice people...the raffle was fun too...my mom one a massage in the teen raffle, which i guess should righfully be mine, but she deserves it. Mari Guttman won the Rock'n'Roll basket that I put together. Marissa says she wishes she had won it. I do too. I mean, I hate to be bitter or anything, but I don't want to be at a Neko Case show with Mari, you know? My hope is that she doesn't like any of the cd's and gives them to Anya or Dan instead. Bah, whatever. I told Marissa I'd hook her up with the CD's...I shouldn't make promises I can't keep.
Andrew Miller was really quite the charmer last night (surprisingly). He chatted up my mother, thanking her for the event and stuff, and he said I looked really nice (dammit, I overanalyze everything, I'll be thinking about it for weeks.)
This weekend should be interesting. My mom is taking the day off today, and we're taking it easy tonight. Tonight I think we're going to see my cousin Zev's play. Sunday morning we're having brunch with Aunt Blanche, Uncle Jack and Uncle Jack's mom Mary. Then Sunday evening is Bobby Bare Jr! and Johnny Dowd! and Robbie Fulks! with Kris, Evonne, Ron Cey(Matt) and some others...this will be fun!
One final thing: Zev got 4 tix to see Jeff Tweedy of Wilco and Chicago percussianist Glenn Kotche. We'lll see how things get split up.
Oh, and I had a really funny moment when I was talking to Madelyn (as she was hanging around filling out her raffle tickets). We were talking about prom, she said she was going with Tim O'Connor (he's cute AND owns a Stinkoman shirt! He's a catch!) and I told her I was going stag. She said she wished she'd done that instead because going with a date is kind of a hassle. "Yeah," I said. "You remember my date from last year, right?" "Yeah," she said. "I only remember him because he was cute."
