New Year's Resolutions: (No, I am still not over the whole New Year's Resolution nonsense)

  • I would like to begin taking vitamins. In the past, whenever I've thought about taking vitamins, I've tried to figure out where I might be deficient,      and so have began to keep a food journal to get an idea of what I've been eating, and as a result have tried to change my eating habits so I'm    not embarrassed by my food journal, etc. And never ended up taking vitamins. However, I''m going to start taking a multivitamin, and                    calcium, and if that goes well, I'm going to order a vitamin pack that is formulated to make up for deficiencies in a vegetarian diet, if any exist.
  • Learn to knit! I have actually already learned to knit, as I think I mentioned before, and with a few evenings of work, I should finish my first scarf. However, I want to make a few more scarves, and there are some other projects I'm dying to work on. My biggest barrier to this goal is actually obtaining yarn that I want to make things out of.
  • Reduce my carbon emissions. For this year, I am going to make a serious effort to reduce the amount of carbon emissions I produce. I have already hooked all of my electronic thingies up to different powerstrips, so I can just shut the entire strip off to save power. I have also purchased a new thermos, and brought a few mugs to work so I can stop using paper/plastic cups. My biggest effort for this year is going to be reducing how much I drive. I have figured out that I can take the bus to school/work easily at least 4 days a week, and as the weather gets nicer, I'll be able to walk. (It takes me about 40 minutes to walk to work, if I walk briskly.)
   Aaand, that's it.

I am feeling a little stressed - I recieved an email a few days ago informing me that my financial aid has been cancelled, because I withdrew last quarter, and I won't be able to get it back until next quarter. Normally, that would not be a problem, as I have a CD that matures every 3 months that I use for school expenses, and I would just use that to pay for school. However, this particular CD matures late, at the end of January, and well past the date that tuition is due. Also, since I am quite busy with DMC, I have drastically cut my hours at work, and will probably only be able to work weekends for at least a couple weeks in February/beginning of March, and was relying on my CD money to pay for rent, groceries, and things of that nature.

So, we'll see how things go. I might be able to take a short-term loan for tuition, and I might be able to use my vacation hours at work, though I don't have many left from when I went on vacation. I also have a paid day off to use, and I might be able to appeal the decision for them to revoke my aid.

I'm also a little annoyed though, because if I had recieved notice my financial aid was being cancelled, oh, any sooner than less than a week before the beginning of the quarter, I would have been saving more money this whole time. Ah well.
