Yup, another new year. I'm back at work again. It was real nice having a week off. I hung around with my family, went out with my cousins, played a lot of video games. It was great.
New Years Eve was kinda slow. Small party at my cousins house, maybe 15 of us or so. My cousin thought it was going to turn into a coke party after Jesse brought some girls with him, but they ended up being alright. He did bring that girl Rose again, so at least I got a little sumtin sumtin at midnight. Other than that, we hung around, drank, had some classy strawberry wine stuff at midnight, in my aunt's finest champagne glasses and just chilled. Watched Southpark and Chappelle's Show, drank some more. Ended up leaving around 3am. Pretty cool night.
New Years Day I was back to my cousin's again, this time for his father's surprise 50th birthday party. He thought it was the following day, because he's Mr. Super Sleuth and he listens in on phonecalls and stuff. He was surprised, cuz he got distracted by Barry and Lucille taking him around Long Island. Good job guys. Big party anyway because of it being New Years Day, and bigger for his party. 50-60 people I guess. Me, Tom and Jesse hung around for a while before getting bored, then Jen and Jeremy showed up. They're both going on the cruise with us, I think they just got engaged. They're both my age, and they drink a lot, so they're cool. Jeremy is quiet, but real chill. Jen is pretty cute, little overbearing. They said they had just seen a bottle of Absynth while they were at the liquor store with my cousin Merri. Nice. Diluted, but nice nonetheless. So we said hell yes, we're going. Went out, got the bottle and kinda rigged it. Sugar+water+weak absynth = still a good time. No real hallucinations, but at 110 proof it still got us nicely ripped. Smooth, but with a weird aftertaste. We have our friends from England bringing us a bottle or two of the real stuff when they come for the cruise. Gonna be real nice. Sat around watching Napolean Dynamite after we drank, it really is a bad movie. It's good for the first maybe 20-30 minutes, then it slows down to a crawl. The only redeeming part is his dance at the end.
Sunday was football day, and of course the day after New Years our game has to be 9am. So I stayed up til 3am the night before playing World of Warcrack with Josh. My paladin rocks socks. Level 35. Got up at 7, went to the field to find the gates locked. Apparently security had the day off, so we had to wait. Game started around 9:30, about an hour and a half. We lost, like usual. Only 14-6 though. We had a 6-0 lead for a while, they tied us right before the half, then took the lead on the first play out of the half on a 60 yard bomb. Damn. I caught 4 passes, 2 first downs, and had 3 sacks from defensive end. That puts me up to 5 sacks in two games. According to the ref, I now lead the league. Go me. I'll be missing the next two weeks though, since I leave for my cruise this Saturday, early, and come back next Sunday, late afternoon. Oh well, hope they can hold up without my stellar defense. Interceptions boys, get 'em.
I have to go to the bank before I leave. They called home yesterday, saying I needed to call them back soon. So of course my father got worried and freaked, called me at work. So I called them back, and they have a check from my old 401k provider, passing the remaining funds into my IRA. The check was written out to the bank, care of me, with no other information. Great job. So they called to see what it was for. Told them to put it into my IRA, and then I'll roll the whole thing into my 401k. They said fine. So of course, I called my father back and told him that the bank said my account was cleaned out. Bank card copied, and I'm broke. He nearly had a heart attack on the phone, it was great. When I told him what it really was, he said not to come home last night because he was going to beat me senseless. Thanks Dad.
Then my mother flipped out because she realized I didn't have my travel documents for the cruise yet, boarding pass, etc. Ran around yelling at me for 10 minutes until I finally got her to stop and told her that Barry and Lucille have my documents, since I'm technically staying in their rooms. All that worrying, fixed in 10 seconds. Thanks Mom.
The gym has been swamped lately. Once again it's that time of year, people getting gift gym memberships, and people making New Years resolutions to lose weight or get in shape. Bastards. All they do is take up the already slim pickings for parking spaces. Thankfully, none of them have any dedication (that seems to run abundant, hm?) and they'll all be gone by the end of the month. Happens every year. It's like the Monday Gym Surge, but on a more grandiose scale.
I really should pack tonight. I might even have to cut the gym a little short, which sucks. It's arm night. I have to get my father's garment bag, since I'll need a suit for the Captain's Dinner on the cruise. I should be able to fit all I'm bringing in that bag, and in a carry on. The perks of being a guy, and going to the southern Carribean where all I need are shorts and a bathing suit. And a tan, sigh.
If anyone wants anything from the islands, let me know. Although my stock of booze is already used up, you can only have 6 bottles and they're all for me. Maybe I'll get some shot glasses and stuff too.
Originally I was supposed to take off all next week, plus the Monday and Tuesday after. But now since I wont have any houseguests the week after the cruise, I told them I only needed Monday off. Yet another day paid. I like it.
I suppose I should go now, I've been writing for about a half hour and I'll have to start moving people soon. I dont know if I'll write before I go, so have a good week everyone. I'll be thinking of all of you at work and school while I'm lounging on a beach in St. Lucia, drinking up the weather, the booze and the women. Enjoy.
