Sorry for the lateness on this!

Our Hong Kong trip was Feb. 14-17 2012. We were trying not to be too ambitious, so we only planned for 1 or 2 activities per day and not a whole lot of intense birding - but we did see a lot of really great birds anyway!

Our plan was to spend 3 days, 2 nights on Saipan. This should have been plenty of time to see all of the birds, however we were unlucky when it came to the 2 rarer species, the Micronesian Megapode and the Nightingale Reed Warbler. We never did manage to spot either of those species.

Over Thanksgiving ironpaw and I were on Rota - which is a tiny island about 15 minutes flight to the north of Guam.

We're back again! We only stayed in Manila/Quezon city this time, but I really want to go back and check out some of the other areas! There are about 200 ENDEMIC species of birds in the Philippines - that means they are ONLY found there. Many are found only on one island. Having a blast here. I really like Japan a lot. No offense to all the other wonderful countries, but I kind of like how there is nothing "scary" here. Riding the trains around the city is so easy as to be almost devoid of stress. All the parks are so pleasant and just make you want to stop and sit and relax in the shade for an afternoon ( Read more... )
