Aside from the obvious parallels between Captain Jack and Bruce Wayne, the Hub always strikes me as being like the Batcave. It's big, it's mysterious, it has a contrast of high-tech equipment with the archaic and the geological; it doesn't have bats, but we can take the pterodactyl as a sort of giant proto-bat symbol.
