The dance performance is tonight! We're looking forward to it. Have managed to connect with the dancer who is the daughter of the lady that set this up and we'll meet her after the performance. I think this will be a nice evening out.
Our new manager started this week and I think he'll be ok. He's younger than I am, i guess that's a sign i'm getting old! He says he doesn't micromanage and that's a good thing. Had some time with him today while giving him a quick overview of a change management system. He worked here before about 17 years ago and I remember him from then. It'll take him a little while to find his feet but i'm hoping he'll be able to do what needs doing, back up his staff, and lead the team :) Time will tell.
Toronto's mayor in more hot water. Honestly that man is such a source of amusement for the rest of the country. I can't imagine what it must be like to live there and have that doofus represent the city. He has even put his name up to run again in the next election. If they re-elect him, they deserve every iota of derision they get. It's getting to the point where he's not just making Toronto a laughing stock, he's making the country look bad, too! And that takes some doing, considering that Canada is usually fairly respected.
I still haven't booked any flights, hoping that the price might come down a bit and i shouldn't really leave it too much longer, should i? The Canadian Dollar has taken a hit, too, so hotel prices are going to be more expensive. It's not too bad against the euro but the pound is hurtin' a bit. Still not back up to the bad old days of $2.00 and more per pound but it's up near $1.80 or so, from a low of close to $1.50.
