So, I sold my cousin's Micra, and thus the cycle of buying -> ownership -> selling is complete. After getting a few calls and tyre kicking, a rather nice UNSW student who lives in Kensington gave me a call.
He wanted to see the car Tuesday night, but I was out at the airport picking my parents up. So I called him when I got home and told him I was around. He came to see the car at night and didn't mind the paint marks or the fact it wasn't power steering. Yesterday (Wednesday) he shows up with his GF at West Ryde Station and pick him up in the Micra. It turns out to be the last time I drive the car, I'll sure miss it =). He pays $3400 in cash, we sign the documents, and he goes on his merry way.
It was at this point it dawned on me, I bought the car from an Asian dude who didn't know much about SELLING a car (various protections you should take etc), and I hence sold it to another asian dude who didn't know much about BUYING a car. The guy didn't do any REVS check or insurance or anything. I mean, their heart is in a good place and so was mine, but honestly ifg I was out to cheat them I could have done so so easily... Meeting people like this kindah makes me understand how the dodgy car operators on Paramatta Road exist. Car ownership is no laughing matter, and is not to be taking lightly. But then there is born the saying "There is a sucker born every minute" ...
