Junno nonchalantly twists the chops sticks with his soaring soul to somewhere. Since he arrived at an old noodle house in Shibuya, Junno remained stilled and motionless. He proved that he couldn’t call himself as a whole without going to Jutendo.
Junno trawled his phone and hesitantly dialed nurse Rin’s number but he didn’t have a choice because he trusted Kazuya to her “Hey,”
“Oi konnichiwa Taguchi-san, have you got rested now?” she responded in surprise to Junno’s unexpected call.
“I’m alright no need to mind me Takanashi-san,” he assured to the nurse, trying to hide his smile because his ex-wife was concerned to him. He must think about the patient first as he almost forgot Kazuya ”How’s Kazuya? Is he slept comfortably last night? Is there any contusions?”
“So far he’s okay, he slept soundly and he woke up almost 11 am. Don’t worry doc, no bruises to him for today. He slept at Jin’s room and he watched Kazuya whole night” she gladly announced.
“Ah, thank you very much Takanashi and please do extend my gratitude to Akanishi-san for watching Kazuya, just call me if I’m needed there at Jutendo,”
“Want to talk with him?”
“Oh no need, I guess that Kazuya is in rest. Just please always remind him for his intake of vitamins,” he said.
“Thank you for taking care of him,” Junno said kindly, then bade his goodbye before he ended the conversation
His pale-toned face has been painted a little bit. The block of frets that congested his air passage vanished after knowing that Kazuya slept last night and didn’t fall from his bed. And he had a chance to talk to his ex-wife even if it’s not related to their own lives. Junno hummed in content and munched the ramen openly due to the wildly scream of his stomach since last night.

From looking down to their still entwined fingers, Jin cast his eyes to Kazuya who was amazed in looking upon the transparent window of the cab. He attractively watched every street and people have been passing by like a little child taking by his mother. He understood how he looked upon simple manners in Japan into an extravagant thing since he was raised in abroad.
“Ne, it’s my first time to take a tour outside the hospital since I’ve arrived here yesterday,” he shared his thoughts, without snatching any gazes from the panorama.
Jin nodded, trying to comprehend the younger “Oh yesterday… I’m thinking what the date yesterday was...” he need to know what date Kazuya was referring to.
“Yesterday was November 16, 2005 mister,”
“That’s two years ago Kazuya,” Jin noted at the back of his mind as he heard the younger gladly enunciated the date.It might be the last date he remembered before he had his syndrome he thought to his mind as he remembered his condition.
“She knows all about me,” he mentioned, his eyes were always shining as he talks about Haru.
“How important is she?” Jin inquired with baffled reflection to his eyes.
“I’m not complete without her,” Kazuya definitely stated his words then smile lightly.
“Ano…Sir the cab ahead stopped at that restaurant,” the driver informed and point-out the restaurant.
After Jin paid the cab, he assisted Kazuya to get outside the cab and dashed to the old noodle house across the way.
The strong attractive smell of soup together with the costumer’s murmuring sound while imbibing the luscious ramen noodles and earsplitting voice of the angry head cook roaring screeching for their follow-up orders greeted the two men as they’ve landed inside the small restaurant.
“Haru!”
Kazuya caught the woman despite of being chaotic within the whole eating place. He grabbed Jin’s arm and pulled the taller to shove themselves in a narrow way in the middle of the wooden tables. But Jin was halted as he saw an unexpected person in this type of public place. It was no other than Taguchi-san eating his luscious Ramen.
“What?” Kazuya turned his head to the other as they stopped.
Jin fixed Kazuya’s hood to cover his face once again “You need this,”
“Eh?”
“Listen, don’t forget that we’ve just sneak at the hospital and one thing… we’re hiding to Taguchi-san he’s not allowed to see you because he might send you back to the hospital,” he explained.
“B-But why Junno-chan would do that?”
“Maybe Haru might help me to explain this to you,”
Jin was just received a blank nod from Kazuya. He can’t merely absorb some facts in reason of he can’t already remember why he need to sneak just to go outside the sanatorium. Then he decided not to mind anything, but just to give back his Haru. Jin leaded their way while holding Kazuya’s hand then smoothly slipping just beside Junno whose busy guzzling the broth. After they’ve silently slithered, he impelled to walk briskly as fast as he could right away until reaching the door where the woman had been used as a passage few moments ago.
Their eyes were blinded to the sunlight as they’ve reached the end. A small flat lying behind the restaurant greeted after their eyes adjusted from the light. Jin finally saw the woman’s appearance vividly, she’s pretty and wearing a turtle-neck long sleeves perfectly fitted to her tight pants and her rubber shoes. She dressed not as elegant as most of the woman would but not considered as untidy. She looked simply clean having a high dignity as mature woman who he guest of having an age of more or less than 30.
“Mama?” the little girl sitting beside the door, tapped his extended stick on the dusty ground, sensing her path going to her mother.
“Karin,” her mama gently called her name then entrapped her daughter to her arms.
“Karin misses mama so much,” the girl happily announced as she encircled her arms to her neck.
She couldn’t conceal her tears anymore with those heart melting words coming from her only daughter. She let her tears of yearning flow to her cheeks then grasps Karin tighter to her arms. Mixed of pity for her daughter and detestation for herself swallowed her heart everytime that she would enter their house and meet her sightless daughter that she left few days ago for her work.
“Mama has something for you,” she wiped her own tears then gave the notebook that she handed.
“Happy Birthday my princess,”
“Haru!”
The woman was bolt from blue as she saw a figure running closer to them “Kamenashi-san?”
Kazuya gladly dashed towards the woman. Jin just followed the younger lad like a connected tail. He vigilantly eyed Kazuya whose lips were stretched widely and cheerfully.
“You are Haru?” Jin confoundedly asked the woman.
“Me? No I---“
“That woman is not Haru! That is Haru!” Kazuya pointed-out the notebook between Karin’s taut embrace.
Jin’s mind set was totally ruined after knowing that the Haru he was praising for is not the woman they were following nor any other female or a human being ; it was a thing, specifically, a simple notebook made up of think wooden brown covering that bonded tightly with a yarn that tied perfectly at the both ends.
“Mama? Do we have guests?” Karin begun to swung her free hand, seeking for her mother.
“Please! I’m begging you! Give me back Haru…” the tears started to watered his eyes as he pleaded to the mother.
“No! This is not yours! It’s my mama’s gift for me!” the little girl retorted as her tears also crawled to her pinkish cheeks.
Kazuya was taken aback as he noticed the little girl as if protecting her mother. She looked like his little friend… her rounded eyes though looked dimly empty, it’s almost exact. Her small nose and chubby cheeks… those little lips always formed a pout at him… her sweet voice…. Everything.
“I’m so sorry Karin, I’m sorry,” her mother entrapped her child once more when the guilt finally vanquished the calmness.
“Mama I won’t give this gift to anybody! Mama tell to them leave!” the woman felt proud that at the young age, Karin could appreciate things though she can’t pictured out how it looks like, the girl knows how her mother worked for that gift. But the little girl’s expectations were opposite to the real truth of how really her mother got that gift.
“Give it back to him Karin, he owns that,” she convinced her daughter gently, patting her back.
“But how he would own it? You brought this thing only for Karin right mama?”
“I’m sorry but mama can’t afford to buy a new notebook for Karin this time… I thought it was already discarded so I’ve decided to offer this as a gift for you…” she confessed, biting her lips in embarrassment to the truth that she didn’t buy a good gift because she hadn’t any fund for it.
Karin gently rubbed her hand on the surface of her mother’s face, wiping the tears “Karin should be the one to say sorry…”
Soon, Karin decided to give back Haru to Kazuya. Jin witnessed how the little girl defended the gift from her mama as well as Kazuya, the tears screamed how Haru means a lot to him, that he risk to leave with a newly met man just to find his lost friend.
Kazuya knelt down to caress the little girl’s cheek “I’m so sorry….” He was hurt to see the girl’s tears crawling to her cheeks. She resembles more of his little friend and he felt guiltier because of it. He felt he became cruel to the girl but he couldn’t lose Haru… she holds all of his memories that he didn’t want to lose, and she’s the only friend where he could trust all of these
.
The girl just smiled then hugged Kazuya “I’m so sorry too nii-chan…. I promised I’ll never… ever took Haru away to you again,”
“Hey.” Jin joined Kazuya and knelt to Karin also then took her both hands and put them on his warm flawless cheeks
“I’ll buy you your own one… promise.” grinned as he raised his pinky and held the girl’s hand to guide her for a pinky promise.
“H-Hai.” The girl replied as Jin took her to his arms.

“Did you like it Haruka?” Rin closed the story book and kissed the top of her forehead.
Rin smiled and stood up after hour of sitting beside her daughter’s bed. It’s time to change Haruka’s clothes. Bit by bit, she unbuttoned her clothes and took off pajamas gently and put a fresher one. She recalled those times when she’s changing her clothes before bed. Haruka was giggling, running around her room while she’s chasing her around.
She could hear her laughing and her feet lightly thumping the floor though she’s stepping almost violently on it. Now, it’s totally different than the past, Rin could talk but she can’t talk back, Rin could tell jokes and laughs after and Rin could change her clothes, but she can no longer chase Haruka since she’s just peacefully lying on the bed, can’t talk, laugh, or move. She’s merely sleeping, without emotions at all.
Without anything as if a doll.
“I know you listen,” Rin touched Haruka’s pale cheek “So please help me to courage him… help me to let Junno listen to you… just how you’re doing now.” Haruka has been listening all this time, her heart told Rin so, and by that she could also feel her daughter’s unspoken words.
Rin drenched her lips with a sip of hot cappuccino, snuffling the cold wind of night to unwind her weary being walking along the corridor. She eyed her watch and the nurse wondered why Kazuya and Jin don’t even look upon or went stroll to the playground. They don’t even peek nor open the door where she left the two few hours ago. Hardly moments passed by had Rin decided to take a walk in the silent hallway then her phone suddenly rang.
“Moshi-moshi,” Rin answered Taguchi-san on the phone.
“Where’s Kazuya?”
“He’s still on Jin’s room… I’m on my way there to check them,” Rin gripped the door knob as she reached the room then a sigh of relief was escaped through her mouth as she saw Kazuya already in sleep while Jin was sitting on his side, fixing the crumpled blanket above the younger’s body.
“Kazuya is already in sleep,” Rin gladly announced before she turned off her phone.
“Konbanwa, Rin” Jin grinned widely.
“He looked quite tired ne,” the nurse noticed as he saw how deep Kazuya is sleeping in Jin’s bed.
He agreed “Ah yes he is, we’ve played many board games this day so I-I guess it was one of the reasons,” he crossed his fingers beneath the sheets hoping that the nurse will believe him.
She nodded “Ah, just please take a rest too Jin, I’ll be the one who will watch him for this night,”
“I’m not yet tired… let me be the one who would do that,” Jin gave a warm smile. And without any hold, the woman as well gave back a smile.
