This week has felt crazy busy though it really hasn't been.
last Saturday and Sunday I went to A's church to hear a missionary from Israel speak. He did a breakfast presentation on Saturday talking about himself and his family and a bit about the history of Israel. On Sunday he spoke on faith how our faith needs to be something other people can see so they can know to ask about it. During the Sunday school hour he did a slide show type thing and talked about the ministry they have in Israel. His last sermon was on prayer and being in right fellowship with God. I have the last 2 presentations in audio if anyone wants to hear them. He was a very interesting speaker and I enjoyed going.
Nothing happened on Monday besides making my new email list. We now have and 4 others on it. I hope it will grow, but we've already had some good conversation.F and I had a bad route that day. Fortunately it was a short route just to the shopping center.
Tuesday i woke up at 4 from a horrible nightmare. It was really bad and put me in to a panic attack. I tried various things to calm down including petting the animals, but it took 45 minutes and then I was afraid to go back to sleep. So I stayed up all day skipping service dog class and not doing anything important.
Wednesday I did my recertification for housing and had therapy which was pretty uneventful. F and I had another bad route. Sniffing, not finding the doors out of the stores we went in to and refusing to switch at the door to our building as she sat down and wouldn't move. She has never done that before. I was frustrated with our route, but was keeping my cool so I know I didn't cause it. I'm starting to think she wasn't feeling well, but more on that in a moment.
Thursday
morning walk with Flora and a lady from a bible studyI sometimes attend. She had expressed interest in walking as it would be good exercise for her. So she F and I headed out on what was supposed to be a simple mile on a sidewalkless residential street. The walk down was fine a bit of sniffing, distracted for a few seconds by a bird nothing I can't deal with. The we came to the street what we do is cross it and then make a right and head back up the way we came. At the corner there is a dog a big dog behind a fence that likes to bark at F. F distracted and will keep looking back and sometimes even try to turn around to greet Mr. pup.So we crossed the street with a lot of reminders to pay attention. I decided to do it again. Maybe I shouldn't have but I really want her to realize the street is a place requiring focus. Well, everywhere requires focus LOL but streets especially its a quiet street there's never traffic, but still. so we crossed back and were preparing to cross again. When out of the house comes the dog owner yelling at us to stopp messing although messing wasn't the word they used with thiere dog! "you just stand on that corner with the dog! I don't want my dog barking at other dogs. He'll hurt your dog if you keep messing with him ect. I told them this was a guide dog in training. Yes I lied, but easier to say that then it is to say my dog has issues LOL. She said it was upsetting her dog and so we just walked away.
I don't know if it was because I was distracted by thinking about the rather rude people or if it was just a crappy orientation moment but I went left instead of right and we were half way down the block before I realized something was wrong. I didn't know where we were so my friend told me . As soon as she explained it of course it made sense. I hate having crappy orientation. Anyway, we took a different route home and F did really well. Anyway, despite the dog distraction those people and the mix up I was pleased with the route. F did some great obstacle clearance on the sidewalks heading home and had a great pace and 97.9 percent good focus.LOL Much better then the previous 2 routes.
That night I noticed her shaking her head and by the next morning she was pawing at her ear. Looks like another ear infection damn! She was doing so well on the California natural thought we'd solved the problem. I have a vet ap for Monday not with my normal vet, but with a vet in the same practice so if she has concerns or questions its easy enough for them to talk. I found out today that she is scratching repeatedly at her side. I had heard her scratching and thought it was her ear as I've actually felt her paw at that while I pet her, but I guess it hasn't always been. I hope its nothing else going on. Next week is going be crazy busy but I'll get to that shortly. that afternoon a friend N and her guide dog came over. We let the girls play a bit a bit and then we went for lunch at the pancake house. N has just graduated college and is leaving soon to start her new job in California. So, it was nice to spend time with her before she goes. And Flora despite not feeling well played like crazy. I spent Friday afternoon on the phone with various people. We are still trying to get me another talking meter and nobody wants to pay for it. That evening was the first southeastern conference call for graduates. This was not sponsored by the school it was organized by a grad. there were about 12 of us on the call. We all introduced ourselves and talked about why we chose Southeastern and then went on to some other topics like briefly talking about food and grooming tools. It will be every Friday night. I probably won't go every Friday, but will do it from time to time.
yesterday I went to our town's annual parade. It was pretty long about an hour and a half. Flora tried to go play with a couple dogs going by on the sidewalk, but was good about the dogs in the parade itself. She could see them and watched intently. But I guess she knew they were to far to get to. She was wrestless and kept eating the bark chips we were sitting in. By thee way she has an entry in her blog. And that's all I have to say on this week. I was gonna write all about next week, but I'm tired of typing so you'll just have to wonder what I'm doing and I'll report back soon.
