It's not work that I enjoy, it's chaos! Sure I would have loved to have the day off, not because of new years eve, but because I love free time in general, but I knew I would have to work and it was a good day (night). XD I actually prefer to work holidays and get normal days off because that way I get paid to deal with busy chaos and I can relax in my free time. XD
To me all the days are pretty much the same so when it comes to days off it's the amount that matters to me, not the date. I don't get holidays, but I do get two months of long weekends (3 days off a week in one and 4 days off a week in the other) during the low season. Over here most jobs only offer a measly 15 days of vacation a year plus like 12 or so of the major holidays. I get all that free time during the low season.
I also still accumulate vacation time depending on how many hours I work per month and they're super flexible about when I can reclaim my vacation time, which is at any time, even if it's the high season. A lot of other jobs whine about when employees take their vacation time. Although as in most jobs I can't reclaim my vacation time during the first year, I am accumulating it and will be able to claim it all next march... though I plan to save it for when I need a break from the busy season.
