The record's starting to come together very nicely, but it looks like it won't be finished before Christmas. Fortunately we have already discussed a general timeline for completing it before January gives way to February. We should have most of the tracking done by the end of the week (minus a few background vocals) then it's just a hop, skip, and a jump away from being mixed and released. I can't wait. Yesterday I spent five or six hours singing all five vocal parts to one of our songs. The end product is worth it, but doing anything for that long without the slightest bit of variation is a bit mind-numbing. But that pretty much sums up the whole recording process. It's going to be great, but I won't be sad to see an end to these sessions. Not that I'm not enjoying it, it's just that I think my wife is forgetting what I look like when I'm not asleep.
I have to stop myself and remember that Christmas is next week. A bunch of my mom's family are coming into town on Saturday for a little shindig which I am very much looking forward to, but haven't given much thought. I really do love Christmas. I'm singing at our Christmas Eve service next week too, which will be really nice. I love Veritas. So Veritas+Christmas? Forget about it...
